actually, Gravemind (the flood leader that captured Cortana) used Master Chief and Arbiter so that everyone would be killing each other and the flood could just take their corpses and infest them. He ALSO used them to get their ship In Ember Clad so he could use it to get off of the Halo. So in Halo 3, the flood r gonna be off of the halo most likely flying to earth.

Well think of it this way, you went through 8 hours plus of gameplay, then you see the Covenant taking over earth and MC ready to kick ass...then credits. So the ship was the big cliffhanger. But after the credits was this which just added more questions than answered.

The Halo series ends with Halo 3. Thats the way and about 99 percent of Halo fans want. Halo Wars isn't a continuation and I'm pretty sure if they did a number 4 a lot of people would be pissed. Plus it says on the Halo 3 commercial "Finish the Fight".

Bungie has said that COrtana has been captured by the Gravemind. While they did NOT say the thing that the Covenant activates in the Halo 3 teaser is the Ark, they did hint to that effect, both in words and combining the ending of Halo 2 with the teaser trailer.
