I don't think there is a big difference in sound... but probably there is a little.

@xArnthorx Save your money and buy the 500. As others have said, the only difference is the tuners, the bindings and the inlays. The 500 sounds EXACTLY the same. Now called the EC401 I believe.

The neck of a EC is brilliant, it fits perfect to your hand, I would not put it any other way. Not fat, thin, U, or whatever... it just fits to the hand.

@ohyeah15 I find the neck of mine is chunky, but reasonably quick. It's no Ibanez III but it's very comfortable. As soon as I picked it up I was happy with the feeel, but I have big hands, so it might not suit all. You can stand off it a bit with your thumb on the back for quick single note rythmn riffs or grab a big handful for string bends.

fuck yeah. i own it. its a great guitar. the neck is insanley fast. really great sustain. cleans up really well. you can play any style of music with it. id say go for it, its the best guitar ive owned yet.

Ec-1000 has locking tunners and tonepros bridge.
