  • calipers are in 1000's of an inch readings, not hundreds...so your first measurement would be 263 thousands of an inch..there are 62 thousands in 1/16 of an inch.....

  • machinist need more precision measurements so they use the 1000's of an inch readings.

for what I'm doing you only need 100's of an inch readings, but if I was measuring High Security locks I would use 1000's of an inch as they are machined with better precisions

there are so many calipers out there it's mind numbing

  • Its like being back at school.... I always turn up to late !!! oh well thanks again info is spot on 5's

  • i d = inner diameter

    o d= otter diameter

harbor freight makes a digital one for like 15 dollars works great

  • Instead of master keying isn't this just a master pinning thing?

  • Yeah, but for some reason the uneducated still call it Masterkeying! People who understand the mathematics of masterkeying know the number of shearlines created by pinning two randomly bitted keys! It's not good!

  • Nice!

  • nice vid!

  • Great info man 5*

  • are you by any chance a benchwork locksmith?

  • thanks, man that helps me out a lot.

    good luck @ the comp.

  • That would be a dial caliper, and not a micrometer.

  • Thank you, you are correct! I sometimes use the words interchangeably by habit! Thanks for the correction! :-)

  • I interchanged them too until I learned the difference. :)

  • Great vid! Good luck with the comp! :o)
