One thing to beware of is that ALL banks push through the highest charge first, that way they can hit you for more overdraft fees on the numerous smaller amounts of charges that normally wouldnt have overdrafted your acct. ALL banks do this, even on credit cards AND checking accts.

I use a small local bank, they are part of a local consortium, i do not get charged ATM fees to use most banks in my area. my VISA debit card is accepted everywhere everyone else's is. I do my banking online for free, or over the phone when it's free - in 3 years, i've only needed a check/money order 1 time! and if they merge, i will move my money again. large national banks are the worst. I'm considering a credit union soon, too, only had good experiences with those.

B of A is a shitty corporation and I can't believe that I have a home loan with them. They smile in your face while they f*** you in the ass. They have WAY too many departments, and none of them knows what the other is doing. Every time I call B of A I have to allot half of a day to being on the phone while I am being transferred to several different departments. They have two Advocacy departments, which I can't figure out for the life of me. They are one f*cked up disorganized corporation!

I abandoned it and they closed it. I can't sleep at night knowing I have a mortgage with these criminals. We have closed 3 BOA accounts for a total of $58,000.00 that will no longer sit in their bank. We are also paying off a 30 year home loan with them 15 years early. Which was on an ARM that just matured, and the payment was cut in half when we went to prime plus 1%. So they have lost over $250,000 from us, for the way they have treated people like you. It is in plain sight of EVERY card user agreement what interest rates are. And I have never known ANY credit card not to charge a few on a cash advance. READ the terms and you shouldn't have had a problem. People need to stop blaming others cause they look over the important stuff.

For people who have online billing, it is actually quite hard to find this information and isn't available online, you have to call and ask what it is. Plus, I'm not sure if you lived under a rock immediately after the major bank collapse, but BOA was cited (and is now in court i believe) over raising interest rates on their customers without notification or reason.

@miknwv i know you wrote this note almost a year ago, but my advice is, always take your money out of a bank u don't know & move it. i use only small local banks no matter where i live. sure, having a large national bank is a nice convenience, but my VISA debit card is accepted where everyone else's is, & my bank charges me next to no fees, even for using ATMs of other banks in our area, they have a consortium. You have the right to change banks when you want - vote with your feet! Good luck!

@iloveterriers Me too, I didn't have a choice, my went from Michigan National to Standard Federal to LaSalles then BOA bought LaSalles bank. I hate BOA and CITI bank but I bank with both of them, the reason is convenience because I go out of state a lot and they pretty much have branches in every state. If I use a local bank when I go out of state I will be charged fees for taking money out of another bank's ATM. Luckily I don't use BOA or CITI credit cards but they did try to sell it to me.

Im pay my credit card by phone. Im have code confirmation. They take the money from my bank account. But now they call me all day because im not pay. I had this happen to me last year. I had been with BofA since 1991, have a credit score above 750, never missed a payment, was never late with a payment and always paid more than the minimum payment. I noticed one day that my interest rate was 27%. They refused to work with me, so I cut up the card, went to a local bank, got a loan at 6% and paid it off. I'll never do business with them again!!

CITI Bank increased my interest rate from 9% to 29.9% - 20 percent!!!! Chase lowered my credit limits, as did American Experess. I've had great credit and no missed payments in almost all of my entire credit history. Thanks you for this video.

I would not go with Bank of America. If you're going to get a credit card, get one from a local bank, maybe a local credit union, or a small local community bank. Even if you do end up paying slightly higher interest, it's better to do that than find out your interest has been tripled because your account was hit by the dart thrown by the CEO who needs money in a bad way. Plus, they're being investigated for all kinds of fraud so if I were you wouldn't want to have a card there....
