@PreCodeMovies: Thanks for your very nice comment. Tiny Tim come up this morning (New Years Day) with my adult children (youngest is 27). Guess they had never heard him,, or forgot they had. I was able to quickly pull up some of these old videos. Wow, what a talent he had -- really. Sure is easy to make fun of him, but when you step back you can easily see that he was,in fact, a real talent. Your comment about meating him in 1988, just hit home. Thanks for sharing your experience. JMB
Further to my last: from The Tiny Tim Memorial Site
( h tt p://ww w.tinytim.org/liturgy.html):
"...when (Tim) ..was 19 years old. Some neighborhood boys invited him to a revival meeting and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. For the rest of his life, he struggled to obey God's will in every area of his life.... Tiny constantly alluded to the Lord in his conversations and was careful to say "Jesus Christ" and not just "God" because he did not want to deny the name of Jesus. Amen!
Agree with PCM, Tiny Tim really was a genius, in his own way. Among other things, he was virtually a walking & singing encyclopedia of American music.
Regarding this particular song, I seriously doubt it was intended as a cautionary anthem for the modern Church of Warminglology. And as to Wendy's comments, I'm not familiar with any of his songs "poking fun" at religious belief; he was in fact a dedicated Christian, despite his acknowledged shortcomings living as a Christian.
Tiny Tim was in the first generation of "green" thinking people. But more than that, he pulled off poking fun at religious beliefs without being mean or vicious as I see in lots of FB comments today. I prefer his way of humor as a technique to converse if one doesn't agree with someones beliefs as opposed to hostile bitter remarks. But...that takes a little more creativity LOL!
I mentioned Tiny Tim to my Artistic Daughter about two months ago,,,I saw him on the tube with my Grandma when was a kid,,,Who would have thought she so much thinks hes a cool, crazy kinda guy. I just mentioned his name,,,I did not even know he sang the song on the SpongeBob cartoon,,,,Wow I learn something every day.... I just said hay thats Tiny Tim,,,,And then my Crazy, silly Kool, artistic Daughter said,, Who? There, the Tiny Tim craze started a new fan club in our House now..The cure too
@BOMBhollywood Yes, when I was a teenager, I thought he was strange or maybe crazy, but now, 45 years later, watching this, I realize Mr. Herbert Khaury was a genius. And, an encyclopedia of early 20th century music, too. He could re-create almost any of those early recordings, and do it live. Good on you, TT.
@arleneherring the drug joke was out of line/have harsh humor sorry you are extremely lucky he sang for you! what was he like other than being nice if you dont mind me asking
All right kids heres whats going to happen, we are sticking you in a room with a man trippin balls, but dont worry! Just sing along "all the world is drowning" and everything will be just fine...
Weird Al, Russell Brand, Tiny Tim - I think they all look soo alike. i think they are all hawt and geniuses too. The ice caps are melting, the whole world is drowning!! .. and the kids start singing along?
The icecaps R melting -yes- The world is drowning [Tsunami's in numbers ] fish are, becoming in danger faster; If, we need a song for the End, to leave w/ the time capsule, Here it is...we are living proof of it ,Prophetic Tiny..
@PreCodeMovies I get the same feeling. I actually met him as I was leaving my office building in downtown Raleigh around 1988. He was doing a promotional for an art festival called Artsplosure, and as I came out of the building...there he was, all by himself. We talked for just a couple of minutes. A sensitive, introspective soul that I don't think I had the capacity to understand at the time. It was a moment I've never forgotten. His life was a bittersweet affair.
wonderful crazy -the kids just accept it all and are singing along-he's just plain entertaining-if johnny depp did this everybody'd love it and i think johnny depp probably gets some of his stuff from tiny tim
@oldepersonne No way - they're looking at this guy, thinking "I'm on stage, cameras are on me, grown ups are looking at me, and this guy is completely nuts - but I would like an Ice Cap(pucino).

Gotta love his seagull...trying to fly by flapping only the left wing, then only the right. His lyrics should have been, "The seagull plummets in search of sand."
While I always appreciated Tiny Tim, and thought something about him made him interesting, and wishing I could have known him, I really dont understand his mannerisms and weird movements/facial expressions he made during performances..

I don't know if a vid of it exists, but he does "Ever Since You Told Me That You Love Me (I'm a Nut)" and it always leaves me speechless. If I saw him perform it, I'd probably reach enlightenment.
I showed this to my friend and it scared the crap outta her! Surprisingly, the next day, I downloaded this track on my iPod, and next thing you know, there's going to be some idiot running around the toy section @ WalMart blasting this song.
I'm old enough I remember Tiny Tim when I was a kid, and the Christmas I got his record "In Concert from Fairyland!" I was devastated when I heard he'd died, he had been doing small concerts and I missed one that was very near me one year; I really hoped to see him live. Anyway, the more I've read about him, the more fascinating a man he is. He really was a musical genius -an eccentric one of course!- and if he has ever been surpassed it is only by Weird Al ( which I do not concede.)
The ice caps were melting even back then we had global warming, lol He was a genius, for the younger generation, check out Weird Al Yankovich. I don't know too many more new comers that use this style of music comedy. Look up Tiny Tim in wikipedia they have written a good piece on him.
@gerardilove i was lucky! he was so sweet. my bf had brought his yuke & they did a duet. he sang to me. this was the late 70s & he was on the road, doing small gigs in small towns. his voice -- such a magnificent range -- too bad he was famous only for his falsetto. reading these comments is a little sickening -- he was not high, not drunk, just ttotally cool.
@arleneherring Oh wow u were part of history in the making and he sang a song to you? ma'am its so cool that u got to see him in person and i agree morons here clearly dont know what theyre talking about when they say he was on drugs cuz they have not even met him in person like you :)
Honestly if I were a child I would have been sooo terrified.
