So, anyone care to take bets on when space explorers will begin to experiment with human reproduction in space? Could have huge ramifications for the eventual(?) colonization of space...
Thanks for posting, NASATV! These are all extremely gorgeous shots. Stanley Kubrick would be so jealous!
@moneyman10k Yeah, you're right. I'm completely ignorant about everything having to do with space exploration. I had assumed we could just blink our eyes and click our heels together and instantly be on Mars with no vision and no hard work. Thanks for cluing me in with your expert opinion. Boy do I feel stupid. You should also go back in time and tell Columbus that his was just a pipe dream, and that he'd better just get a job in banking.
@moneyman10k Come on! You know the "Big Picture" is that "Great Civilizations Explore!" If we gut NASA, if we turn our backs on the Frontier (no matter how high the wall we have to jump over is) then the only thing america has to look forward to is stagnation and a mere footnote in history, mentioned in passing by Chinese historians.
@AdamEtheredge sure, I was just pointing out that sex in space is unethical and will continue to be
PS: nasa gets 20 billion dollars a year, there is no gutting going on. if you want to live in space you should lobby your public representatives to support closed loop life support research, radiation mitigation research, in-space propulsion and resource utilization research, and commercial spaceflight. because without those new technologies and lower costs, you arent going anywhere
@moneyman10k I don't understand how sex in space is "unethical." It's merely science. The first Mercury astronauts had to go through all KINDS of invasive, excruciatingly private testing. Every orifice, every single bodily function, repeatedly tested in every imaginable way.
This would just be another of those sorts of things.
And it's mandatory for the future of the human species that we understand it. Do sperm and egg behave the same way in zeroG? If not, Houston we have a BIG problem...
@AdamEtheredge this isnt science fiction, its medicine... you don't test something dangerous on humans without extensive research in other ways that we havent even begun yet
@AdamEtheredge you're trying to imply yuri going up first was a bad thing, but it wasnt. and today is not like then, there is no military purpose to human spaceflight anymore. people are not motivated for the same things for the same reasons anymore.
@moneyman10k For god's sakes, man, I mention the first american in space and you call him "irrelevant?" Are you even AWARE you posted that on a video of americans floating around in space?! I'm sure that the folks at NASATV just fell out of their chairs laughing at you.
So, does all the money you cowardly bankers roll around in at night replace the tube-shaped hole where your spines used to be? I mean, really, did you ever even HEAR the speech JFK gave about space exploration?!?!
@AdamEtheredge you are a strange extremist talking about strange things. you started with sex in space, then went to nasa committees, then to dead astronauts, then to bankers, then to a jfk speech about exploration that wasnt actually about exploration
you should stop using marijuana because it exacerbates your schizophrenia
