There is no reasoning in which Greece should give away their property to bail out the stupidity of the lenders who gave loans for bad private investments. The banks should honor their loan agreements and accept default conditions.
@ZardexM Then Greece never should have taken bail out money in the first place. The asset sales are for securing the money lent to Greece now to keep itself above water for a few more months. The only good thing about all this is that it should allow for a more orderly default with the holders of Greek debt. They will likely be kicked out of the EU and return to the drachma. In time the country may make something of itself once they shed the 'right' to a job with the state as a reward.

All my support to the Greek people in this struggle....here in Portugal we had a very bad news this morning....Moody's downgraded our rating 4 positions to "junk" even despite more austerity measures announced last week by our newly elected government with an absolute majority in the parliament....but that doesn't matter...the world of finance will only stop when they see us all in bankrupcy....at least the Greek people don't want to go down on their feet.....

Germany should teach Greece a lesson in discipline "the old German way". You may think they have forgot but the Germans are hard working and efficient while the Greeks are lazy and eat more than they produce. Greeks helped Germany and forgave half of their debt to them after the WW2.
They did that because it was good for the German public and the nation of Germany and because what is Good for a country's economy in Europe is good for all European economy. They were right. Europe prospered until it forgot the lesson of the Greeks.
Now the IMF has taken over and is stealing everything and spreading lies.

@ZardexM Yes blame the IMF for everything. Fact is, Greece got Goldman Sachs to conceal the huge sums over the 3% debt/gdp ratio that Greece was borrowing so what really happened was they deceived the IMF and the ECF. The powerful EU countries deserve their own slice of Greece because there is no way to prevent default so they deserve something for their money that they are going to lose. Greece has plenty of islands and can spare a few of them.

@fvgdfbdokd You talk about governments deserving a slice of Greece which is another Government. But the Debt is not between Governments. It is debt that is machinated by corrupt politicians and it is mostly between privatized businesses and private banks.
There is no reasoning in which Greece should give away their property to bail out the stupidity of the lenders who gave loans for bad private investments. The banks should honor their loan agreements and accept default conditions.

@ZardexM Then Greece never should have taken bail out money in the first place. The asset sales are for securing the money lent to Greece now to keep itself above water for a few more months. The only good thing about all this is that it should allow for a more orderly default with the holders of Greek debt. They will likely be kicked out of the EU and return to the drachma. In time the country may make something of itself once they shed the 'right' to a job with the state as a reward.

Many thousands of people have been protesting PEACEFULLY for weeks. This had to stop. A few dozens of paid agitators are brought in and they start provoking the riot police. Other hooligans and misguided violent youth join them. Police respond by beating up EVERYONE ELSE except for those who create the tension. People react trying to protect themselves. Police throw TONS of poisonous cancer gas trying to get ALL OTHER peaceful protesters AWAY from the parliament.

I'm not denying that provocateurs get used, but the tendency is to toss the term around far too lightly and its always the folks who are against violence in principle that confuse the issue because they get hysterical.
I've got nothing against pacifism, I've protested peacefully and otherwise, but I don't have any patience for the preachy authoritarian pacifism that calls everyone "thugs".
