My friend says he found a Daytona 2 cab. If it's real, that's another story. My chat went like this:
Friend: "I found a Daytona 2 machine in an arcade at a cinema."
Me: "No way?"
Friend: "I'm pretty sure. It had the dodgy palm tree logo."
Now, I would LOVE to believe him. It's such a rare game I find it hard to think that I would be able to play the world's greatest arcade game. I'll be meeting him again soon, and I'll ask him specific details, colour, size etc.
Sweet Hornet! That cab is yours! Argh, if only you could join the DU-Univ, you'd be helping actually. MAME is shit, screenshots of DU2 are uber-rare... well you see the drill.
the graphics in this game have allways been terrable.. sega could of made this game wiht such better graphics if they put the time and money needed into thegame but its fun no less
Gonna have to disagree there. Nothing was pushing this many polygons in the pre-PS2 era, and nothing could match the full assault of geometry, textures and effects until the current console generation. Note how the Xbox version of Outrun 2 had to resort to simplifying the course graphics from this game- and it still had frame rate issues. Model 3 was serious business.
Well said. M3 Step 2.X was an absolute beast. I feel the platform marked the high-point of the mega-dollar, no-holds-barred dedicated hardware era, which Sega ruled. I think only now, in an age of bland, me-too, PC-based hardware, can we really appreciate how special the M3 platform was. The fact that it took YEARS to catch up with the technology and the fact that, even today, it cannot be accurately emulated speaks volumes about what an incredible piece of hardware it was.
Here's the formula: take Daytona USA, make it more extreme, make it crazy, make it a true step up from the previous game. End result- "Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge." Only played it a few times and think it's one crazy game. Good video.
Pretty much. I absolutely love Daytona, but after playing D2PE, I've got to admit it's better. The inclusion of the Hornet with the original handling is one of the best extras ever.

@KaosuKaiari Maybe most of the sales of Daytona USA 2 are in the philippines.
dacarfreak2000 1 year ago
Also, you say in the description "my D2 cab". Do you OWN this cabinet?
KaosuKaiari 3 years ago
Yes, the cab is mine, and I agree. A port of this would have been great - much better than 2001.

If they SIMPLY ported it to Dreamcast. THIS instead of DU2001. JUST this.

do you happen to know how to change the country settings in this game or other model 3 games shinradiac?
gutchman84 3 years ago
Outside of changing it in the menu (on games that allow that), or swapping ROM boards, no.
