This news is what we Hmong have been waiting to hear for the last 30 years. I for one support this peace reconciliation. We can not wait any longer and here's why. Who's gonna take GVP's place if we wait too long for something this to happen again? for he is getting older and older every day and also right now there are thousands of Hmong in Laos and Thailand that needed help immediately. I am confused and concern about GVP returning to Laos. Especially with a pending case for the other fellow Hmongs who are still waiting trial, this is not the right time to be reconcile with the other government. There are still a lot of fear and hurt feeling in the old country from the allegation. It's like a fresh wound that is not completely healed. If you try it, it will bleed again. It's hard for people to forget and forgive especially when their self interest is at stake.

To me there is no surprise of the General's plan, given the current regional (SE Asia) developments and world politics the General has quite limited choices as what he really wants to do but to reconcile with Lao for the best interest of future generations. There are few specific conditions the General wants to accomplish from this deal. Meanwhile, 1000's Hmong are shocked and do not approve of the deal easily but they will be come accustomed with the returns years ahead.
