so what was the problem with moving a bloody gearstick? Opticruise is godawful. If you must have an autobox then may I recommend a Volvo, mercedes, daf or an MAN. these at least don't fire it straight into 2nd gear when approaching a clear roundabout because they think you are stopping.
Our firm has proved conclusively that opticruise equipped vehicles are typically 2mpg worse than the outgoing manual transmission models and a lot slower on take off.
When your long distance driver tramping for 4 weeks at a time this is a dream, changing gears all the time wears you out having a automatic is smooth and less tireing
I drive dump truck in city traffic everyday and we all know how hard it is to go all this gears up and down but still love it and never like auto car or truck. in north america trucks have hood and engine is in front of you and still a noisy(depends on truck and age) I dont know how noisy this trucks are?
nice but dry steering at 3.23 haha you failed your test and then shortly after that instead of pulling on the pin you pushed it and dug yourself a hole nice bit hahahaha
I drive a Scania now to be honest, or well it is a SAAB but it says SAAB SCANIA on the car and I like that as I am from Sweden. I bought the car before SAAB and Scania splitted up in two companies.
ok, listen, I drive for one of the UK's bigger own account fleets, they run over 1000 scania R420s. The engine is great, but is totally ruined by the godawful opticruise box. never in the right gear, slow to take off,and fuel economy consistantly worse than a manual trans, no matter HOW you drive it. please make manuals as standard again. its totally needless to make autos just because everyone else is, especially one as crap as this. it ruins a good truck
i work for radicon and i know how much scania have spent on the new opticruise total new gearbox and clutch and total new software running it and a brand new plc program we tested this gear box to destruction all data shows its just as good if not better then any thing on the market now in all tests it matches or out performs what ever is out there i don't work for scania and iam not a driver just a design engineer so the proof will be in the pudding if its not right now it never will be
scania design innovation center runs at about 4 million a year 22 months they worked on this gear box then the software needed to be wrote another couple of million then all the testing then the manufacture and re tooling an educated guess i would say you would not get any change from 15 million that is a conservative estimate it could and probably is closer to the 20 to 30 million bracket first impressions are its does every thing they want it to exceptionally well only time will tell
this is a total different system mate i know wot your saying about the opticruse 1 it was slow but you need to try this it is a total different system
Nope, they pot the tourqe down becus the gearbox coud'nt have that high tourqe, ( if i have to belive a friend of mine that is working in the MAN garage)
you will find that the scania 16L engine has a power output of around 1000bhp it is the most powerfull engine fitted to a truck today. the problem is that gearbox propshaft and diffs can not take the power and it will just rip tyers apart thats why its downrated to 500,560 and 620
MAN TGX V8 and SCANIA R620 are the two best truck for me!

@alfx75 if you drive a scania V8 without muffler and 7" straight pipe that's a hell of a noisy truck but they are kinda quiet in sweden.

The features of the gearbox sound very similar to Volvo's Ishift, which is a cracking gearbox in all conditions.
If this gearbox is as good it will make the Scania hard to beat.

Thanks to the smooth clutch engagement, it's no problem at all. I've tried it out thoroughly.
