This appears to be an attempt at cool, which fails. The most important message should be the reason why a user would get better relevancy of results. Imagine an animation that illustrates the parsing of text and the subsequent impact on the quality of results. Nail the essence and spend a few bucks on folks that can deliver cool.
Seems like it will be a great product. I do agree with some of the other comments though. The presentation was lacking a little. Possibly have someone else work the camera next time.
I guess I missed the piercing that eveyone seems so concerned about. Silly me, I was more interested in what he was talking about. Yeah, I'm an old man I guess (at 53), but he seems like such a nice, earnest young fellow...
Lose the eyebrow piercing, button up that shirt, and put on a tie. Stand still and stop lifting your eyebrows every few seconds (its distracting from what you are saying). Why isn't someone else with you on this? A second person should have been controlling the camera and the computer you are recording on. You ending it like that doesn't look good for you, your company, or anything you are trying to sell me.
I'm not being pompous. I was expecting more professionalism from a startup online posting a video to YouTube. Besides, any piercings beyond the ears on anyone doesn't look good--many company's dress codes label them as forbidden anyways due to lack of professionalism.
No offense meant Mark. Call me jealous and old. Well it's back to my Ramen Noodles and my recliner. You probably are lunching at another Bay Area hot spot for your fiddles.
Mark has all the coding prowess to be a head honcho at Powerlabs, but he's displaying a itty-bitty eyebrow piercing. Is this l'il show of rebellion to express that: 1) you haven't completely sold out to the evil corporate powers, 2) that you're testing the waters of the dark side?, or that you're 3) hoping your bit-o-hip gets you laid?
Awesome how feature rich the powerset platform is! Never seen such a promising startup, can I buy shares? You scare the sh*t out of Google's pants with such an amazing good presentation!
I would have done better than this video for a presentation to my book club.. What's with the block wall background and the pipes? The video sent the image of college freshmen working in a garage behind the apartment. That is probably a false image but why send me something that leads in that direction? Redo the video with some sharp graphics and hang a curtain over that wall.
The video doesn't say much about anything...as long as I am willing to take the time to watch it, please take the time to say something that extends beyond marketing blah blah.
Sounds & looks very promising after watching this video & checking out your website. Good luck all who are working on Powerlabs - Can't wait for September!
hey, this is great. i really wanna compliment u on the attitude youve taken with this project. the people who dont like this video are just uninterested people who want to use the product. i commend u for opening up a call for people that actually want to participate, i hope i will be able to pitch in.
this guy reminds me of BillG, guess it is the glasses. they seem to be building something outworldly wonder if they know what they are doing!! meanwhile i would pay to watch them kick google ass.
That video just left more curious about it... Do you think that Powerset can beat google? I would like to see an enterprise that could do that. The probem is that Microsoft already have the desktop business. It seems that now, google want to do the same with internet, we have just to see that almost every new magnific internet startup is bougth by google.
we are waiting for the next generation search. Something more than a keyword search. More direct and relevant. More personalization. And one from where we can make money :)

Absolutely! Powerset issues a brand-new MacBook pro to every new employee, so we're beyond Mac-friendly. . . we're in love =)

powerset CAN beat Google

"Beat" is a vague term. Beat in what sense? Accuracy of search results? Speed and performance? Scalability? Natural language capabilities?
