Its a fact that they were closed to starving in 45 as stores were running out because Germany had occupied large amounts of farming land and the red army consciption of farmers.
Also the Lend lease trucks and studbreakers helped logistic supplies greatly.

Well... With the help of the lend lease anyway. Without that Russia would have been unable to set up radio connections or garner enough resources for the crucial battle in Kursk.
But other than that the Soviet Union pretty much won the war hands down. Zhukov and Mussolini (ironically) were the two most crucial figures for the turn of the tide in WWII. America and Britain, while certainly playing their roles, could almost be seen as back seat passengers by comparison.

I disagree about the lend lease having that big of an impact even going so far as to saying that if it wasnt for these resources they would have lost at Kursk lol Thats not true at all, the lend lease made up less than 10% of all russian resources. Russia would have won at kursk regardless and it was more critical for the germans to win this battle, russia was already winning after stalingrad.

Ah. But Stalingrad, while crucial indeed, was more of a morale victory. By resources for Kursk I meant they wouldn't have developed the 122-SU cannon which improved Russian tank firepower immensely. The Germans proved that they weren't down and out either. Even at Smolensk they managed to put up a strong resistance. And without radio a tank battle of Kursk's scale would have been largely unco-ordinated. I agree with you that Russia would have won the war even without the lease though. I...

@Genevaman616 Actually, the tanks and weapons ent to russia didint have as profound impact as expected, it was the food, such as grain and spam which helped the red army. Its a fact that they were closed to starving in 45 as stores were running out because Germany had occupied large amounts of farming land and the red army consciption of farmers.
Also the Lend lease trucks and studbreakers helped logistic supplies greatly.

It varied. I have read accounts where some Italian and German POWs were allowed to remain. Since many of the "safer" POWs (not officers, SS, or serious escape risks) were used in agriculture, staying after the war probably resulted from being paroled to a job (sponsored by an American) and then eventual citizenship. Most however, even if there had been a chance to stay, probably just wanted to go home no matter how bad things were going to be there.

They were sent back to Germany. However there was an incident in which some prisoners, who were fanatic Nazis, murdered one of their fellow prisoners of war. The guilty persons were executed in the States. Otherwise, all German and Japanese prisoners of war were re-patrioted.

It meant you wern't going to Eastern Front. I cant understand why after the invasion of Normandy by like 1944 The U.S. and all the allied powers wouldn't negotiate at all with Germany but insisted on unconditional surrender. The Germans having no choice probably would have agreed to occupied and relinquish occupied territories of they could get the Bolshevik horde to stop advancing.

That may have been the case over 50 years ago, but not now. The Germans remember what the results of the war were, the devastation of their country and the fact that for 10-15 years they were still pariahs because of the Holocaust and that their country was divided as punishment up until 1990.

Simple Facts Anyone Can Look Up
1 - Throughout WW2 the German Enigma system was never properly tested by the High Command for possible compromise, even though this is easy to do.
2 - The Luftwaffe couldn't stop the evacuation of Dunkirk.
3 - The Luftwaffe couldn't beat the RAF.
4 - During the entire Battle of Britain Luftwaffe intelligence couldn't figure out that British Radar was central to the RAF success.
These simple facts are symptoms of a deluded military force.

The RAF was at the breaking point when Hitler ordered the mass-bombings of British cities. The leader of that military force was deluded when it came to strategic matters, not the force itself. Göring wanted to show off & let the Luftwaffe take care of the Dunkirk situation. If Hitler had not listened to Göring, then the Allied forces at Dunkirk would have become POWs. There were several German ground units near Dunkirk. The Luftwaffe did target radar stations during the battle of Britian.

There is no point in stating "If Hitler had only.." or "If Goering had only.." since the decisions they made were the best they could do, and they failed. There is no evidence the Luftwaffe commanders really understood the British system of radar during the Battle of Britain, that is why they gave up attacking it. It was downhill all the way after the Battle of France because the flaws in their outlook & thinking were set for life.

It is when you call the German military a "deluded force". Some of the leaders were deluded when it came to strategic matters, not the military itself. Radar stations, airplane factories, airstrips & other important military targets were bombed by the Luftwaffe. But after Berlin was bombed by the RAF, Hitler ordered the Luftwaffe to destroy British cities. This gave the RAF time to recover & eventually win.

Once you believe you are unbeatable, as many in command & in the ranks felt after the fall of France you are delusional. How could anyone in a Do 17, He 111 or Ju 88 with a single 7.7 mm in upper, nose & ventral gondola trust they were safe? Without 2 and 4 gun power-turrets properly placed in the extreme tail, upper & lower position you end up with what happened - you demand fighters stick close to the bombers to make up that deficit. Defensive armaments were in a state of denial = delusional.

Yes, many German planes were not made for operations like in the battle of Britian. Because they were designed with the purpose of supporting a Blitzkrieg campaign. Hitler hoped for peace after the fall of France but Britian refused & the war continued. Thus you use what you have & rely on superior numbers. Almost succeeded until the Führer decided to pulvarize British cities.

I would add also that during the "Drole de guerre"(1939-40), Soviet-German pact looked like a true aliance: for example, French Communist Party made sabotages in some armament fabrics in france before and during nazi invasion, and Germany didn't allow the pass trough its territory for the help destined to Finnland (even from Italy) during the Soviet agression.
Some historians truly call WWII in Europe a "European Civil War" and I think that describes it very well.

Hitler never planned a war in the west. The whole concept of lebensraum was about conquering territory in the east. Also, the League of Nations was a toothless organization which carried little weight.

Not to mention the fact that the finest units the Wehrmacht had in September 1939, were positioned for an attack on Poland. The German defenses in the West were very weak & would easily have been overrun by France.

False. War with the west was clearly foreseen (despite not fully desired) and that's why Hitler ordered and urged Ribbentrop to sign the non-agression pact with Soviet Union, to avoid a two-front war as WWI. UK had a Mutual defence treaty with Poland, so is unvelieabable to think that German goverment would not keep that in mind, so Kriegsmarine dispatched two Pocket battleships and submarines into the Atlantic several days before the invasion of Poland.
