  • Why did that sound alot like a commercial jet?

  • dam the engine doesnt even hop! nice!

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiice.

  • What's more scary is that the fact that the 668rwtq starts very early and it tapers down to 600rwtq at 5,000 rpm. In terms of powerband and power under the torque, this is quite unmatched for a stock car.

  • how much hp?

  • Watch in HD, and the numbers are clearer. Max HP on run 4 was 525. Max torque on that run was 626 ft-lbs, but on run 2 the car managed 668 ft-lbs of torque.

These numbers are at the wheels, as measured by the Dynojet.

  • I see that run 4 has the highest rwhp at 528.31 and also the highest torque at 668.26rwtq, the blue line of run 2 goes above the red line of run 4 so that confirms that. Insane stock numbers, I'm not suprised that the car made way more power than advertised. Using a 20% drivetrain loss that means this bone stock S65 has 660hp and 835 ft-lbs of torque out the factory. That's way above Mercedes's 604hp and 738ft-lbs claimed rating.

  • 20% drivetrain loss would be WAY too high -- we only see that kind of loss on AWD cars. We see around a 15% loss on "normal" (like 300 hp) cars, but on a very-high-powered car I'd guess it to be more like 10%. That would make the rear-wheel numbers about right.

  • Hmmm, the reason i use 19-20% is because a Mercedes specialized tuner Renntech calculated it; their actual number I believe is more like 21% so I conserved it a bit, I know you guys do EVOs and other AWD platforms and with those you can see 20-25% drivetrain loss. Everywhere else is factoring 18-20% drivetrain loss when calculating the power numbers for the V12 TT Mercs. I appreciate your reply Dan.

  • I don't really care what Renntech or anyone else calculated. I base my numbers on my own experience with my own dyno, and I stick by what I said above.
