It doesn't look very weather proof to me. Plenty of droop in the roof for puddles to form. Tell me it isn't so if you've used one in rough conditions but in the video this looks poor.
@greymy At least on my 6-man instent, (as I call it) it actually has a very nice heavy tarp floor, so it doesn't need one, unlike the crap nylon floored tents.
@UsedCamping Forgot to mention this, though- for mine, (6-man) I needed a tarp to set it up on to look it over, (very rainy Christmas without usual snow) and I'm going to use it inside the tent, but only really to protect the floor from my cot, not the rain.
As for the stakes, if anybody's buying this, buy good stakes, and the front and rear loops need replaced for the V-shaped ones. The stock stakes are for backpacking tents-not evem dome tents.
It doesn't come with an unattached ground sheet. But for family style camping at campgrounds, you don't really need one. The floor is very sturdy and made out of the 150D fabric which is twice the thickness of most tents. This tent is awesome! One night we had to leave the tent and everything behind. The winds got up to 50+ mph. We stuck everything inside including our 12' Sea Eagle boat. When we returned the next day, even the rangers couldn't believe the tent was still standing.
I am torn between this model and the one carried by walmart. (2000008491) but I am having a hard time to find formation about these tents. Coleman website doesn't even list the walmart tent which I believe is a newer model.
You're right... that model is hard to find!! Next time I'm at Walmart, I see if they have it and give you my opinion. (Hopefully you're not in too big of a hurry) If you are, then I DEFINITELY recommend this one( 2000007832 aka 7832). It's super easy to set up and break down, and has tons of room.
Thank you very much for the review! Do you happen to know the exact model number? Coleman has them on sale so I am thinking of purchasing one, but your model is the only one I've seen with the ceiling vents.
I'm glad you liked it!! Sure no problem, the exact model # is 2000007832 aka 7832. Yes, when you're shopping around, make sure to match up the model #. There are lots of places that try to pass off the 6 man tent as an 8 man tent. :(
We had a HUGE rain storm and 5-20mph winds that came with it. The first day we didn't have any water come in. We had closed up the top vents, and also took our time to make sure the velcro closures and flaps were done correctly on the front panels. The 2nd night, we forgot to take the time to correctly close up the front closures/flaps on the front panels... we had quite a bit of water. But.. THAT was certainly our fault. - John
I just bought one today and cant wait till I have my 1st sleep in it....
