all the albums are fantastic, ranking them is really hard #1 is either DLullabies or within mile, but after that it's hard to rank. Speed of darkness, although their slowest album, is by far their most beautiful work.... Float was just short......and swagger is the basis of the entire bands existence. Hard working, fun, really wonderful people that deserve all the success they've achieved
I really don't see why everyone's saying that Float and Speed of Darkness are their worst albums. I personally think they're Flogging Molly's best albums yet! And besides, Flogging Molly has an ailment that prevents it from sucking.
@Uxhenik Dave's lyrics will always be great. The music to some of the songs just sounds really awkward. Particularly on "Powers Out" and "Punch Drunk Grinning Soul". It sounds like they went out of their way to sound weird, rather than something natural.
Maybe it's just me, but the music in the last two albums reeks of pretentiousness. You never got that with the three records before this. They were fun, and still had Dave's amazing lyrics.
This, "Between a Man and a Woman", and "Us of Lesser Gods" were the only good songs on this album. But DAMN were they great. These three make Float actually worth owning in my eyes.
@TrojanChris1990 Between a Man and a woman? really? I'm a die hard flogging molly fan, probably my #1 favorite band...and even I can admit between a man and a woman is the biggest filler song they ever wrote.
@domotime2 Matter of personal preference I suppose. Maybe it wasn't GREAT like the other two from this album I liked. Something about that fiddle during the chorus moves me.
I never liked "Float" at all. I'm cool with them doing slower songs in the past, I love "Son Never Shines" and "Don't Let Me Die Still Wondering", but "Float" is a snoozer. As is most of the stuff on the past two records, unfortunately.
man i should of went to go see em when they came in the warped tour.. im still kickin my self in the balls cause i didnt go... and it was like 4 years ago =[[
@jakethesnake672 I don't get why it even matters--people of Irish heritage from all over the world make excellent music. To be Irish is in your genetic makeup, sure, but it's also wired into your heart and your brain--and its why you respond so strongly to things other people can't begin to understand. One can be Canadian and still Irish. Does it matter? I say, build a pint and just forget about it.
@teslagirl1 You make a point. I was born on Canadian Soil, therefore am legally Canadian, but my dad's side is Irish and my moms is Scottish, so I consider myself Celtic through and through. Long live the Celts!!!
I only have a smidget of Irish in my blood, but I think the reason I love this sort of music is that it speaks so purely to the human condition. We might not all be Irish, but we're all human. :)
flogging molly was huge just a while ago, they are still big especially to those of us who like celtic music since this was a huge part of popular culture, and that was really cool for us to see. I listen to more tradiontal generally but that's cool too. I dont think hed do fastway again lol.
One of the few artists who's CDs I will buy. They're just plain incredible. I think this is one of my new favorites of theirs, though.
Is that Bridget I hear singing with Dave? I love the songs she sings in. Dave's singing voice is perfect for the band's songs, but Bridget's voice is such a sweet underline to it.
DUDES AND DUDETTES! THIS IS MY FAVORITEST BAND EVER! The first song i heard was "Drunken Lullabies" and loved it so i borowwed "Swagger" and "within a mile of home" from my friend and loved it ALL! So i finally bought all of their CD's and theres maybe like ONE song i don't like, if that! They're amazing! Love all there rythms and lyrics. So unique. Great stuff!
I get most of my music through download, and whatever stuff I can get for free from my friends, but Flogging Molly is one of the only bands whose CD's I will physically buy. When I heard this song, I loved it so much that when I went to buy "Float," I bought the CD for more than it was worth.
They simply don't put out anything mediocre! That's just amazing. They've got depth in their lyrics, and their sound is catchy too! What a pity you never hear 'em on the radio. Thank God for Youtube.

I doubt there would be a Fastway reunion. That's way behind Dave now, but it would be great if he got back together with them. :)

The radio sucks. The radio plays nothing but crap. Most of the radio is teeny bopper shit like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.
