"ramm" is from "rammen" which means "to ram", but "ramming stone" would not cover the whole meaning. there is a german town called "Ramstein" (spelled with one m only) which became famous for an airshow accident. The song "Rammstein" deals with the accident ("Ein Mensch brennt" from the songtext means "A man on fire", btw).
