the monkess are really good, the beatles are stull #1 but monkees right up there with them! older bands are so much better than the newer crap people listen to.
Thanks for posting this cool Monkee tune. Davy is cool , but it is great to see other singers ge the spotlight too. Awesome unusual Monkee song I always was impressed with.
He's doing a "live" vocal on the released version which was originally the B side of "Daydream Believer" if I remember correctly...this also opened an episode originally during the second season, usually of course, the songs were relegated to the end of an episode...just an FYI for and from a Monkees fanatic!
My favourite ever was a bside song on one of the old 45s vinyl. I came across it when i was around 13 aqnd loved it the minute I heard it. You just made my night mate, Cheers
I loved them. But you are right. they got 'no respect' back then. Really sort of cutting edge when you look back. They were the first music 'videos' . before that concept really had been thought of.
Yes. Today's prospective artists should be made to watch this performance. Perhaps they would learn a thing or two (although judging by the arrogance of some I doubt it).
Classic song! I can't think any of today's singers who could give this number the same fervor and intensity that Micky did - and still can! I want his babies.
Let me qualify that, what I meant was "longer" career as in many more great recordings and performances as a singer beyond The Monkees years. Of course he should have been a a member of the group.
You know, there seems to be a lot of talent here that has gone unnoticed over the years. It's a shame that The Monkees was the apex of his career, I think Dolenz could have had a much longer career as an R&B or Jazz singer.
I remember listening to this 45 and my mother yelling at me because she thought I was playing it on the wrong speed. I guess she didn't believe he was actually singing that fast. LOL

Anyone know the identities of the saxophonist and guitar player? Cat Anderson, I note, on the horn.
Magnificent video! Performance is fantasttic.
Thanks.

It's amazing to look at it today and remember The Monkees were considered untalented hacks at that time.
Compared to the "artists" of today The Monkees were brilliant.
Were they underrated or is it just that bad today...or maybe a combination of both.

Wow! What a performance.
This was used in an episode of the TV series.
I haven't seen the performance in years.
How many of today's artists could attempt this number?
