Thanks for posting this. My recollection had faded a bit as to just how dominant BC was. I can't believe Melrose was blabbing about how Wisconsin was going to win.
Wow shortbus goalie your comments are some of the dumbest things i've ever read on youtube, which is saying a lot. Obviously the highly conservative environment of BOSTON is what's kept the NCAA hockey title in MASSACHUSETTS for the past three years. LOL.
@shortstopgoalie BU is the safety school down the street. Even a monkey with Downs like Glenn Beck would take the time to know what teams played in the game... So that doesn't say much for you.
Gosh, this is huge. And there it is in the title, too. Yep, totally addled, less than a monkey with downs. I am so embarrassed.
But wait, you said you were offended by my brainlessness, not my politics. Well, I wonder. Just a hunch, of course, I'll have to google Glenn Beck. But gosh, I'll bet it's my politics, too ...lol
@ShortstopGoalie You SHOULD be embarrassed to say that you went to... what was it again? U of A Tucson?
Second, my response to your ridiculous comments stem from two things: 1) You actually think that the the school's political leaning somehow made UW get wrecked in the national championship game.
2) "But they weren't saddled with UW's grayscale political energy, which hangs over the campus like a fog, and works like a morale-jamming device." ...What? Huh? Who's morale is getting "poisoned"?
How interesting. With such a seemingly huge target to shoot at, you zero in on "U of A Tucson". Most everybody I know says U of A, probably because it's easier to say. Say UA out loud, then UW and you'll see what I mean. UA is fine, it just sounds odd, it lacks poatree. I added Tucson because there are places like Arkansas and Alaska. Then again, hmmm, I didn't really think about it.
Now, please check for typos, spelling, geography...
Anyway, no, I wasn't blaming the whole bizarre game on UW's heavy political climate. But yes, I think there's no question it factors in. That game just happens to be the best illustration, because it was so extreme -- the psychological factor was so obvious.
@ShortstopGoalie "the psychological factor was so obvious"? Really?
So why is it that UW absolutely steamrolled their way through the regular season and the first 3 games of the NCAA tournament, only to run into a brick wall when playing BC?
@ShortstopGoalie Did the political climate at UW somehow change in between the RIT and BC games and somehow waft northeast to Detroit, poisoning morale on all the boats in Lake Superior on the way causing all the captains to sink their boats in sadness because, let's face it, there's no reason to live with that morale-jamming fog of left-leaning politics hovering over you?
How is it that UW leaning toward the political left - like 95% of college campuses in this country - poisons morale there, but every other left leaning school it doesn't?
Is it because, being right-wing, you are in the minority, and YOUR morale is being poisoned because you don't like the political leanings of the majority of people around you?
Look, I'm not pretending to be scientific about this, it's just a gut feeling, though pefectly logical. And it's nothing at all personal to me, I don't make politics personal anyway. Frankly, I think anyone whose brain, whose thinking isn't tracked with leftist dogma would take what I'm saying as commonsense.
And it works whatever the scale. Honestly, assuming you had a choice, who would you rather have president right now - Obama or Reagan? My point is, there's a downturned energy built into the leftist ideology, leftist thinking. It's destructive.
Now, obviously there are all kinds of other factors at work. The dominant political energy at UW just happens to be hard-core left.
@ShortstopGoalie I see the acceptance rate at UA Tucson is 78%. Jeez, do they refuse anybody??
The ACT midrange there is 21 - 27. That's a pretty embarrasing statistic for a flagship U (or for any college, for that matter). Kind of explains your gibberish.
One thing is evident: you couldn't have attended UW Madison even if you had wanted to.
I will admit it was entertaining to read that you cared so much about winning the outdoor game. Guess that sort of stuff is to be expected from fans of a "red" team. BC fans can explain that a little better.
So, at the end f the day, what you're saying is the fact that UW may be more liberal than other schools is the reason for poor support of hockey/performance in the championship game? Your stupidity amazes me. And I suppose the fact that BC generally leans right contributes to our *AMAZING* fan support?
No, that's not what I mean, I'm not talking about fan support, and I obviously don't know what's going on at BC. Just telling you what it's like at UW Madison and making an obvious comparison to what it's like at UA.. Like night and day. ...like Obama and Reagan, lol.
If you disagree, fine. Can't help but be amazed yet again, though, by this weirdly personal reaction you guys on the left have to anyone who doesn't conform to your way of thinking. Mind boggling.
@ShortstopGoalie You are in this bizarro world where everything we say is somehow being construed as political.
Back here in the real world, my jaw is on the floor because it *appears* to me that you are blaming a left-leaning college campus (which is somehow unique to UW) for somehow having the ability to "poison morale" to the point where it caused UW's hockey team to get wrecked 5-0 in the national championship game.
@ShortstopGoalie If you said the same thing but with a liberal leaning, we would be exactly as speechless at the amount of stupid you've displayed here.
Well, we're talking about a bizarre game to start with. Whatever the most hopeful eagle fan had in mind, it wasn't anything close to 5-zip.
Not saying that BU didn't have the better team. But they weren't saddled with UW's grayscale political energy, which hangs over the campus like a fog, and works like a morale-jamming device.
At any rate, your guys played a great game, no question. Congratulations.
@ShortstopGoalie Completely serious question: How is it that UW leaning toward the political left - like 95% of college campuses in this country - poisons morale there, but every other left leaning school it doesn't?
Is it because, being right-wing, you are in the minority, and YOUR morale is being poisoned because you don't like the political leanings of the majority of people around you?
UW is a flipping COLLEGE! Of course it's left leaning, but that has zero impact on the other 56 D-1 college programs. I guess Madison just so happens to lie in the one part of the country where the commonly accepted interactions between politics and athletics don't exist.
Ok Ok, no need to bleed your eyes out, I was being light. And I admit, the U of A Tucson is my only other experience. So feel free, shoot it down, lol.
Yes, colleges leans left, but Madison stands out. Not that the UA is Reagan country, but only that its negative political energy is way, way, WAY more low key, if not out of the picture. So the school's underlying spirit is lighter, especially its sports. Madison is dark with the left's dreary energy. Puts a damper, believe me.
The left's impact on campus at Madison is beyond belief. Sounds weird to say it, I know, but it poisons morale. Without it, this game, for one example, would never have happened. Across the board, UW teams are much better, coaches and players, than they perform.
lol, ok it's wacko to say it. Still, I have no doubt it's true.
That's the only thing I hate about us badgers this season, we're great for at least 5-7 games (almost perfect), then one game, just ONE game, we are playing like 5 yr olds, And guess what game we decide to suck on, yep the gawd damn championship game, It's OK tho, we won the hockey classic, and we still have double the championships BC has, and geoffrion won the Hobey, what a great season
@tonythetiger20 I didn't expect us to go to the championship game that season, I went to every home game and the hockey classic, for that season all i cared about was doing great (did that) and winning the 1st outdoor game in Madison (did that). BC was just more prepared than we were.
@74blackout16 BC will beat you at your worst, BC will beat you at your best, it honestly didn't matter if you guys were on your game or not, BC was going to win!
