There is a chance he'll appear in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance since today its been confirmed that a world based on Fantasia called Symphony of Scorcery will be in it.
I don't even wanna get in to how long this damn fight took me. I nearly cried it pissed me off so much. And it scared the piss out me when he came out cause I wasn't expecting it, I remember being little watching Fantasia and having nightmares about this fucker.
fuck ansem. if this game wanted to be more epic they would have given chernabog a story line and not just a tacked on villain in the last moment. make him as important as malifacent in the game. i get why though. i mean, we don't get anything about chernabog as far as motives, behavior, backstory... ect +malifacent is for children and chernabog is the devil himself if you think about it
@bbigbangkamahamayha Chernabog would be interesting to see in Xenahort's little league of Disney Villains, if he even finds the need to do so. He might find a need for Chernabog and Malificent, but not people like Hook and Hades would be the biggest hassle.
lol When I played this for the first time and Chernabog appeared, my expression was the same as Sora's. I was like, "Oh shit, it's the thing from Fantasia that used to scare the shit out of me! . . . Hell, I'm STILL scared!" *hits controller senselessly*
I actually somewhat kept count of how long it first took me to defeat this guy and beat the game: about 27 playthroughs. I'm not lying. My thoughts each PT (PT's= Playthroughs): PT1: Is that... No, I must be dreaming... PT2&3: It IS him! OMG-OMG-OMG! PT4-10: (Bawling w/ Nostalgia) PT11&12: OK, let's do this. PT13-19: $#!% THIS IS HARD!!! PT20: Haha- OWNED, Sucka! Then, @ the last Save, I realize... WTH have I DONE?! I restarted my PS2, loaded from earlier, and fought the Big C 7 more times.
@TheAutisticGuitarist Oh, the only thing he lost was interest in the fight. The explosion was to make them think he lost, and then he just went back to sleep.
@chango000000 i like most of the bosses better in kingdom hearts 1 only org 13 was any good imao in kingdom hearts 2 i mean you never fight "the black god of the bald mountain"
@chango000000 Not really, i only played 2 once, 100% completed, and i have to say it was a LOT more boring then the first kingdom hearts. Mainly because they wanted to improve a system that was allready pretty good to begin with, adding ridiculous abilities and technics. And of course the gummi ship, oh how i loved it in the first and hated it in the second. Trust me, you are not the only one.
@Metalgiraffe22 He guarded the way to the final boss room area. You beat him and then traveled through the mountain to get to the door leading to the Destiny Islands
I hope they bring back Chernabog in the next Kingdom Hearts game. Chernabog is supposed to be much stronger than this, and he didn't have a roll in this game. And they should also bring in Firebird (from Fantasia 2000). He's just as powerful as Chernabog. And I heard that Chernabog was originally planned to be the final boss in the first Kingdom Hearts, but they changed their minds while making the game.
@neonnwave How is the Firebird as strong as Satan (Walt Disney said CHernabog was going to be named Satan, but he changed it because he thought it would be too controversial)? If anything the Firebird would be Chernabog's pet!
@VampireofEpicness Really? I only learnt today that Chernabog was even Disney, I thought he was just some random. But everyone who plays video games now Sephiroth. Thanks to Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, but Chernabog's from early EARLY Disney, Fantasia.
This is by far my favorite boss in Kingdom hearts, but I feel they could have done better. Have him call up the souls or pick up the fire and make demons for you to fight out of it... that would have been awesome.
@CarefreeGirlie It's called Oblivion. You get it at Hollow Bastion in the Grand Hall (The place where you fight Riku). When you go to the exact place where you fought Riku, turn around. You should see a blue chest behind and a little bit above you. Inside it is the Keyblade.
the thing is i never saw fantasia before i played kh1 so i was like WHAT THE HOLY FUCK IS THAT!?!?!?! i thought it was a mega version of the big thing you fight when the island is destroyed.
There I was, cruising through KH1, minding my own buisness... and then this song starts. There was 1 thing going through my head at this point "I'M SCREWED!"
My theory is that Chernabog isn't gone forever. Since Square originally planned for him to be the final boss in the first game, maybe they'll make him that in the final game. Maybe throw in the demons he summoned from the original movie.
@Sanguiluna honestly, its hard to even get a HIT oh sephiroth, let alone fighing him ALONE in the collisum and at the end of radient garden in 2, its a pain in the butt! Sure it takes you some tries to take chernabog down, but it takes HUNDREDS of tries to take sephiroth down. Just saying...
Yeahhh......no he can't be destroyed after that, there's no way. I mean, he Chernabog! That'd be like trying to kill Ganondorf, lmao. They both will always find a way to return.
i watched fantasia and chernabog gave me nightmares as a kid. now when i played kh1 and got to this part i was like "THIS IS WUT U GET FOR HAUNTING MY CHILDHOOD"
I kind of relate this battle to conquering a childhood fear. Lets face it all of us who have seen Fantasia as children were TERRIFIED of the Night on Bald Mountain sequence. And the moment you hear those first few quiet but ominious notes in this fight you know whats coming.
@nicky143782 if you let Beast and the others handle her, of course. I tried that once, but didn't have enough experience to do me any good in later levels. Now granted, she was easier than Riku and Ursula, but still a pain to beat.
@alfred4king He wasn't -.- Plus, he didn't have any role in the game. He was just a surprise boss. They should bring him back in the next Kingdom Hearts, but this time, stronger and with a role in the game. I also hope they bring in Firebird as well. He's just as strong as Chernabog.
@alfred4king Well remember Sora's Keyblade (and he himself) is pure light. So that's probably why he seems not powerful enough. You are right though, he seems a bit weak, especially since Sora and everyone is kind of in Chernabog's home field (total darkness). The fight would be pretty much over if they were fighting in a place like Agrabah.
They could've made the fight against him more difficult or at least, more interesting, had they made him summon ghosts and demons like in 'Night on Bald Mountain' to do his bidding against Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
@92af yeah, i'm stuck with him in expert mode now, next to Sepheroth so's he the toughest villian in this game. I would just LMAO if they did as they did with Cerberus and made him much weaker in KH3 XD
In a way I'm almost glad that I wasn't familiar with Chernabog when I got to him the first time. I think I'd have probably fainted when his "Night on Bald Mountain" started playing otherwise. :o
It would have been neat if he was a bit tougher, though. Not that the KH bosses are overly hard on average for the most part, but I find this fellow probably wouldn't have minded some more spicy abilities and damage. Still, his awesomeness makes up for any other lacking departments anyway!
Chernobog: The one villain that made me always turn the movie off before I saw him again. Well at least they allow you to get even in this. Kind of a pity that he's a bit easy at this point in the game though after you've had all that time before to level up.
chernabog needs to return in kh3 and get his own world bigger story and he needs to be even more epic and stronger becouse he is the only disney char i realy like he is evil itself for gods sake
this shows how much i truly suck at this game i've been playing it for about a year and i'm still stuck on the same damn boss when you beat it 3 mins awesome
@FOADgamers he's not a lacky, chernabog probably lives in that world when he's not on bald mountain. odds are he wanted to kill sora because he embodied light, and light was chernabog's greatest enemy.
in all honesty chernabog might not have been at full strength considering he wasn't at bald mountain, so if he comes back, he'll probably be 5x stronger
@omegashinobi Or maybe End of the World IS actually our world after the Heartless destroyed it. And that mountain was in fact Bald Mountain. This is my theory. Also, I agree that he should have been tougher, because he is "Satan Himself" (Walt Disney said that when he was talking about Chernabog). But he didn't have a role in the game. He was just a surprise boss. I hope they bring him back in the next Kingdom Hearts, this time with a role. And I hope they bring in Firebird as well.
I remember when I first saw this guy. I was a little kid. I didnt want to fight him because I was scared of him. Then I decided to toughen myself up and fight him but I couldnt beat. I had to try over and over, forcing myself to look at his scary face. then I never beat him and gave the game to a friend to do it for me lol.
However, Im replaying KH and Im ready to face him again xD
Maybe he becomes a Heartless... that would make him even more powerful, right? and he'd be far more persistent as a Heartless... maybe as a nightmare character...
there's really not much more they can do for bosses, is there? and, unfortunately, YES HE DOES... I would totally play the next KH game if it had Chernabog's demonic reapearrance as a nightmare Heartless!
most memroable bosses in kh1 I remember cloud hades sephiroth the rock and ice titans squall ansem/riku great hall fight darkside phantom kurt zista jafar and of course CHERNABOG
I said the exact same thing-- R - E - V - E - N - G - E
Whoever was the asshole who invented this myth of this creature back in the 1860's is a pure dick. I was scared for half of my childhood after I saw this cartoon in Fantasia.
I enjoyed every last f**king moment killing this guy in Kingdom Hearts. But what really bugs me is that after killing him, the plot of the story says to go down the mountain hole where the devil we just killed sends the demons. F**king retarded
It was too soon to put him in the series, I think. I KNEW he was gonna appear, I had that feeling. But now I think he should of been placed as the final ultimate boss of the Kingdom Hearts series. (first fight as normal and a second fight as a super heartless boss).
Strange... the music used in this boss fight didn't appear in the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Why's that?
It's the same music he had in Fantasia. Night on Bald Mountain or something. Copyrights probably prevented it or something. It's a pretty famous piece of music.
Yeah its pretty well known. Is copyright really the reason? That's weird, I thought Yoko Shimmomura was given the rights to compose that piece, since she composed most of the Disney background music in the game.
Hard to point out an "Original version" seeing as the song has probably been redone tons of times.
However this version playing here doesn't sound like any of the other songs in the game. Therefore I'm guessing it was taken directly from another source.
Oh that's why. This song wasn't in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts at all. It was US/Final Mix exclusive. The Japanese version played the regular boss music. That's why it wasn't in the original soundtrack.
Its strange though, why would Square and Disney place the creature at the beginning of the series? That monster should of been reserved for something REALLY special.
like the last game in the series he would have made a hell of a final boss i mean the true embodiment of evil and he jsut got chucked into the first game like any old minor character
I know, that's so messed up. The only possible way they could use him again is if they describe him in the final game as Chernabog having his "true power" or something like that.
But overall, Im so disappointed at the horrible timing.
Although they had a few ideas for sequels at the time of release of KH 1 they didn't know if they would be able to make any. Thus they threw in Chernabog because they might not have gotten another chance.
Some people at Square were expecting this game to flop. And if it did then that would be the end of KH.
Of course KH was a smash success but they didn't know they'd get awhole series out of this game at the time.
Chernabog makes a great villain, but I think they could've made it feel more like Fantasia. Perhaps by removing sounds and playing just the music really loud, ala the movie, and punish the player who flies out of range with the ghosts that the Chernabog summons in the movie.
I remember the first time I encountered this boss, who would have thout that the same bastard that gave me nightmares as a kid would be a punching bag in a game
When Do You Fight Him?!

I had to set my controller down for a few moments, complete and utter glee when the Chernabog appeared!!

They should have had made Chernabog as one of the secret "impossible to beat" type bosses like Sephiroth.

chernabog needs to return in kh3 and get his own world bigger story and he needs to be even more epic and stronger becouse he is the only disney char i realy like he is evil itself for gods sake

this shows how much i truly suck at this game i've been playing it for about a year and i'm still stuck on the same damn boss when you beat it 3 mins awesome
sallyxlostxherxjack 1 year ago
Chernabog being Ansem's lackey makes absolutely no sense. :/
FOADgamers 1 year ago
@FOADgamers he's not a lacky, chernabog probably lives in that world when he's not on bald mountain. odds are he wanted to kill sora because he embodied light, and light was chernabog's greatest enemy.
in all honesty chernabog might not have been at full strength considering he wasn't at bald mountain, so if he comes back, he'll probably be 5x stronger
omegashinobi 1 year ago
@omegashinobi Or maybe End of the World IS actually our world after the Heartless destroyed it. And that mountain was in fact Bald Mountain. This is my theory. Also, I agree that he should have been tougher, because he is "Satan Himself" (Walt Disney said that when he was talking about Chernabog). But he didn't have a role in the game. He was just a surprise boss. I hope they bring him back in the next Kingdom Hearts, this time with a role. And I hope they bring in Firebird as well.

Did anyone count how long Donald and Goofy stood their ground before they first died? xD

I beat him on the first try.
maybe because I was never afraid of him...
I never saw Fantasia before this
Alterego912 1 year ago
I remember when I first saw this guy. I was a little kid. I didnt want to fight him because I was scared of him. Then I decided to toughen myself up and fight him but I couldnt beat. I had to try over and over, forcing myself to look at his scary face. then I never beat him and gave the game to a friend to do it for me lol.
However, Im replaying KH and Im ready to face him again xD

I wish chernabog was one of the main villains in this game, it would be way more epic

Square: So lets just have them travel through this volcano to the final boss
Disney: That seems too easy...
Square: Well we kinda ran out of ideas... I mean, we've pretty much been relying on you for bosses...
Disney: This is true...
Square: So do you have just one last boss idea?
Disney: Well you pretty much used all our... wait...*evil smile and laugh*
Square: 0_o

and to add to that kh1 is wayy more harder then kh2 i mean wdf?? sora was like a god in kh2 why they make it so simple =/
twain1 2 years ago
anyone noticed kh1 has bigger environments and alot of hidden stuff more then kh2 that kinda gets me...
twain1 2 years ago
Maybe he becomes a Heartless... that would make him even more powerful, right? and he'd be far more persistent as a Heartless... maybe as a nightmare character...
soraos21 2 years ago
@soraos21
isn't he already evil enough as it is? O_o
does he need to be even more demonic?
theshippfan22 2 years ago
@theshippfan22
there's really not much more they can do for bosses, is there? and, unfortunately, YES HE DOES... I would totally play the next KH game if it had Chernabog's demonic reapearrance as a nightmare Heartless!
soraos21 1 year ago
yeah infact he should be a final boss in the game he deserves to be a major boss in the series

its to hard for you this boss. but when i fight him it was too easy. Men you suck!
WADYtm 2 years ago
I said the exact same thing-- R - E - V - E - N - G - E
Whoever was the asshole who invented this myth of this creature back in the 1860's is a pure dick. I was scared for half of my childhood after I saw this cartoon in Fantasia.
I enjoyed every last f**king moment killing this guy in Kingdom Hearts. But what really bugs me is that after killing him, the plot of the story says to go down the mountain hole where the devil we just killed sends the demons. F**king retarded
Saikex 2 years ago 6
It was too soon to put him in the series, I think. I KNEW he was gonna appear, I had that feeling. But now I think he should of been placed as the final ultimate boss of the Kingdom Hearts series. (first fight as normal and a second fight as a super heartless boss).
Strange... the music used in this boss fight didn't appear in the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Why's that?
Saikex 2 years ago
It's the same music he had in Fantasia. Night on Bald Mountain or something. Copyrights probably prevented it or something. It's a pretty famous piece of music.
bob1986 2 years ago
Yeah its pretty well known. Is copyright really the reason? That's weird, I thought Yoko Shimmomura was given the rights to compose that piece, since she composed most of the Disney background music in the game.
Saikex 2 years ago
Shimomura didn't redo this one. It was a direct take of Night on Bald Mountain from how it sounds.
bob1986 2 years ago
That sucks. Oh well. Did it sound slightly different to you, from the original version?
Saikex 2 years ago
Hard to point out an "Original version" seeing as the song has probably been redone tons of times.
However this version playing here doesn't sound like any of the other songs in the game. Therefore I'm guessing it was taken directly from another source.
bob1986 2 years ago
Oh that's why. This song wasn't in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts at all. It was US/Final Mix exclusive. The Japanese version played the regular boss music. That's why it wasn't in the original soundtrack.
bob1986 2 years ago
i agree especially since he is the very embodiment of evil itself and he would make the perfect final boss for the last game in the series
theshippfan22 2 years ago
Its strange though, why would Square and Disney place the creature at the beginning of the series? That monster should of been reserved for something REALLY special.
Saikex 2 years ago
like the last game in the series he would have made a hell of a final boss i mean the true embodiment of evil and he jsut got chucked into the first game like any old minor character
theshippfan22 2 years ago
I know, that's so messed up. The only possible way they could use him again is if they describe him in the final game as Chernabog having his "true power" or something like that.
But overall, Im so disappointed at the horrible timing.
Saikex 2 years ago
agreed he deserved a better role in the series hell Sephiroth got a good role in the series why not Disney's most Evil villain i mean seriously
theshippfan22 2 years ago
@Saikex
Although they had a few ideas for sequels at the time of release of KH 1 they didn't know if they would be able to make any. Thus they threw in Chernabog because they might not have gotten another chance.
Some people at Square were expecting this game to flop. And if it did then that would be the end of KH.
Of course KH was a smash success but they didn't know they'd get awhole series out of this game at the time.
bob1986 1 year ago
@Saikex Who knows. He may get a big surprise role in their 3rd game maybe.

Dude, are you kidding me? Chernabog makes perfect sense, in Disney he's basically the embodiment of darkness and evil..

@LukeSwagwalker Yeah, he is probably the most powerful and definitely the most evil of the Disney villians.

@LukeSwagwalker In other words, he's the devil. Even Walt DIsney himself said that Chernabog is "Satan Himself".

Chernabog makes a great villain, but I think they could've made it feel more like Fantasia. Perhaps by removing sounds and playing just the music really loud, ala the movie, and punish the player who flies out of range with the ghosts that the Chernabog summons in the movie.
