  • i have a 15 inch too. :P it just enough... :)

  • Also you should mention how the 17" Macbook Pro is actually thicker than both the 13" and 15" Macbook Pro.

  • duh

  • Not everyone knows that lol

  • mine is like 8 inch nice eh.

  • the new macbook pro 17 inch is thinner that the 13 and 15 inch

  • the new 17" is 0.98" thick... the 13" & 15" is 0.95"... so they are practically the same thickness.

  • Yea the 17 inch has a bigger processor, hard-drive, and RAM i believe, same graphics card and such tho, but get a 15" if ur not doing heavy stuff

  • When should you charge the battery? should you do it when u have half of batterytime left or when the battery is finished?

  • I useually let the battery drain to be honest. Its good to get a full cycle out of if.

  • ok, i mean if the battery gets bader if u charge it at some poitn u shouldnt :P

  • Yeah you would have to change the battery after about 3 years after use to keep the performance

  • ah thanks

  • how is the battery life 5hours on the 2.8?

    and does it get hot?

    thanks

  • Yeah the battery is actually really good. i have managed to get the full 5 hours out of it once during lectures ect.

However it only gets noticeable hot when using the higher end graphics card whilst video editing ect.

But other than that, a much high improvement that the previous gen

  • I will definitely be getting the new macbook pro but I will need to install windows xp pro on it. I am just a bit nervous of messing a brand new macbook pro up. How easy is it to do?

  • i so totally want a macbook, my shitty p.c. is always crashing and i need a more reliable better faster cooler computer that will work right when i turn it on and not crash.

  • i have a quad core pc and a macbook pro and neither crash. ditto for my old P4 PC as well. one of two things could be happening: your pc is specd wrong and you aren't maintaining it properly or you have something wrong with programs being incompatible.

  • well i have looked into that and all my programs that i have on the computer are pre installed, and the manufacturer says they all are compatible, and the computer itself says there isnt a single problem wrong with the computer. the computer was fast when i got it and now its not. there is no virus and spyware on the computer because i have a top of the line anti virus and anti spyware suite. the speed of the computer is fine its just that it never works and when it does its doesnt do it right!!

  • This is mainly due to defragmentation, lack of ram, and maybe even the anti virus.

Hi, the best way to over come this is to do a fresh install of your OS. As pre-installed programs just clutter your computer which take up alot of resources. Furthermore you should defragment your hard drive about once a week.

Any more help? Dont hesitate to ask.

    Regards,

    mitch625

  • i have been installing the OS for about a year now once every other month and it does the same thing in about a month. its unbelievable. thats why i want a MacBook

  • bingo. just because no incompatibilities are being reported does not mean that your proggies are not hogging most of your resources. a sure sign of resource hogs working in a computer is increasing amount of lag in operation and efficiency.

do you have enough RAM? is your OS optimized to run with performance as a priority versus aesthetics?

whenever i get a hold of a computer - any computer - the first thing i do is disable the useless options. sometimes i even do a clean wipe of the OS!

  • i did do that every other mont for about a year now and it does the same thing in a month or even a few days.

  • do what every other month? if the probelm with the lag is intermittent then that indicates that maybe there are some update processes occurring in the background or some software are being resource hogs. antivirus software are notorious resource hogs so i would check the resource load on what you've got. i know exactly what resource processes are running on my PC -all 29 of them-and i suggest you hone up on being familiar with them as well.

  • its not the internet! its the computer that is the problem, i am getting a MacBook within a month, so there wont be any more problems when i get it.

  • who said anything about the internet? the "lag" i was referring to was the lag in your computer's performance, not the internet reception. your resource hogs have nothing to do with the internet unless you are running an FTP server or remote access. it is obvious that your computer is being bogged down by background processess (any computer user, PC or Mac, can see that) on your machine yet you are so blinded by ignorance that any effort to help seems to be pointless. have fun eitherway.

  • Thanks for the review. I'm also thinking of getting a MacBook Pro because I want a Mac and I know that they're wonderful computers.

But here in Canada the configuration I want is 2700$. I can get a very similar Dell for 1600$. I find that they're overpriced. I want a Mac but I'm not willing to pay 1000$ more for it.

Any thoughts? Do you think it's worth it?

  • no i dont think it is worth it, but if you really want it, its totally worth that extra money especially for a Macintosh! they are awesome

  • Hey, nice video! ( just the sound volume was pretty low )

I am seriously considering getting a MacBook Pro with 2.53 GHz but now you made me think about the 2.8 GHz ;)

Tell me more about GTA IV, please, anything about graphics settings and framerates?

Also, could I use a Windows USB mouse with the book?

    Thx!

  • hey lasttiger86,

yes you can use a windows usb mouse with any new mac. you can even use the right-click feature on it too and the scroll bar too. and even if you wanted to, you could even use your windows pc computer's keyboard
