Sure. But breaking a structure requires this things called "energy," see. And if something falls and strikes it, causing it to break, that results in upward "impulse" on the falling object. Even if the struck object *is* broken, the falling object is still slowed a bit because, well, it used some of it's momentum to break the struck object. Once the struck object is free, it isn't exactly moving, either, so the falling object loses more momentum accelerating the new object below it.
tall building are FILLED with energy -- it's called potential energy -- physically they actually WANT to fall down (pile up sand and see how vertical u can get it)-- the structural support and load distribution has to be in balance or ANY building will fall down -- also take into acoount the LARGE load shifts caused by wind at that height ---
they are not built for vertical impacts --
drop a few stories of concrete and steel on any 100 story building and see what happens --
Deek, generally I love your stuff. But I'm an engineering analyst, and I don't find the collapse beyond belief ("failure" of all intelligence and defence is another matter). With tower 2, you see upper floors leaning - inital collapse IS asymmetric. But once this sort of mass starts moving, kinetic energy increases with square of speed and renders the "solid" structure of the lower floors no more than a rather thick version of thin air, which was only designed to take a static load.
Pls post an example. I've seen buildings that were rigged for demo, where the charges near the bottom didn't go off, but the ones located on the upper floors did. The result... the building either ceased to fall, or the upper portion fell off to the side. Steel-beamed buildings don't fall straight down through the paths of most resistance at freefall speed. This is basic physics. It just doesn't happen without help from somethng removing mass below. Well at least before or after 9/11 that is.

I usually hate conspiracy theory groups, but after really looking into all this, the #1 thing that convinced me that something is not right here, was building 7, It takes weeks of planning and preparation to demolish a building, are they to have us believe that they didn't have time to put out a small fire but they had time to place strategically placed explosives throughout the whole building to bring it down, just because the was a fire on a floor or two? never in history has the FD done that
So if building 7, was impossible, than that brings doubts to the other events. why were all the security camera videos of the pentagon snatched up by secret service? I mean its not like we haven't seen a jet crash into a building ( WTC ).
of course if this was planned, which many believe it was, who planned it, this is where you get a 1000 theories with little to no proof, yes we know who "benefited" from this, but plenty people have motives. I believe more investigation is needed.
And while tall buildings have "lots of potential energy," when something starts to fall, it doesn't start to fall at 100mph right away. That's impossible. It has to accelerate from 0, just like everything else. Granted, as the building collapsed, the momentum in the falling structure grew, and the energy lost became proportionately smaller as the overall pile fell, but the fact remains the falling debris should have been slowed by the floors below.

Ah, bad editing on my part, what I was getting at is that , although their is debate over whether the jet fuel was "hot enough" to melt the metal structure at the twin towers, there was NO jet fuel, or jets crashing into WTC7, official reports would have us believe that just debris and fire brought this building down, and what a nice coincidence, no other buildings were affected like this, also it collapsed consistent with a demolition, it takes planning for a building to come down like that.

This is so great. Magnificent! It takes 2 1/2 hrs to load on my computer so have onlky seem it once so far. This a.m. I got it started, walked to the stoire and back, let out the dogs, took a shower, let ion the dogs, scrubbed out the pan I couldn't get clean last night, came back eagerly and it had progressed 12 minutes. Not much is worth this much waiting, but this is.

OK pentagon -- an aluminum plane hits a reinforced concrete and steel building at hig speed and does not make a wingtip to wingtip wide hole --- not surprising (this reminds me of the valuejet hitting the swamp in florida as far as the plane disintegrating)

This means the force of the impact would have been as great on the plane as the building, and as the plane is an aluminium tube with little nose-to-tail strength it would have crumpled on the outside, and not glided in leaving the plane-shape hole like it was in a Roadrunner cartoon. The impact took a LOT of the structure out of the trade centers --
You dont have to melt the steel to make it collapse
All you have to do is make it a bit soft -- like overheating a drill bit (its just softer when its hotter)
You take an overloaded member and heat it at all it is VERY bad
gravity takes over after that
the lower hit one fell first and they broke at the impacts

Sure. But breaking a structure requires this things called "energy," see. And if something falls and strikes it, causing it to break, that results in upward "impulse" on the falling object. Even if the struck object *is* broken, the falling object is still slowed a bit because, well, it used some of it's momentum to break the struck object. Once the struck object is free, it isn't exactly moving, either, so the falling object loses more momentum accelerating the new object below it.

Deek, generally I love your stuff. But I'm an engineering analyst, and I don't find the collapse beyond belief ("failure" of all intelligence and defence is another matter). With tower 2, you see upper floors leaning - inital collapse IS asymmetric. But once this sort of mass starts moving, kinetic energy increases with square of speed and renders the "solid" structure of the lower floors no more than a rather thick version of thin air, which was only designed to take a static load.

Pls post an example. I've seen buildings that were rigged for demo, where the charges near the bottom didn't go off, but the ones located on the upper floors did. The result... the building either ceased to fall, or the upper portion fell off to the side. Steel-beamed buildings don't fall straight down through the paths of most resistance at freefall speed. This is basic physics. It just doesn't happen without help from somethng removing mass below. Well at least before or after 9/11 that is.

I usually hate conspiracy theory groups, but after really looking into all this, the #1 thing that convinced me that something is not right here, was building 7, It takes weeks of planning and preparation to demolish a building, are they to have us believe that they didn't have time to put out a small fire but they had time to place strategically placed explosives throughout the whole building to bring it down, just because the was a fire on a floor or two? never in history has the FD done that

And while tall buildings have "lots of potential energy," when something starts to fall, it doesn't start to fall at 100mph right away. That's impossible. It has to accelerate from 0, just like everything else. Granted, as the building collapsed, the momentum in the falling structure grew, and the energy lost became proportionately smaller as the overall pile fell, but the fact remains the falling debris should have been slowed by the floors below.

Ah, bad editing on my part, what I was getting at is that , although their is debate over whether the jet fuel was "hot enough" to melt the metal structure at the twin towers, there was NO jet fuel, or jets crashing into WTC7, official reports would have us believe that just debris and fire brought this building down, and what a nice coincidence, no other buildings were affected like this, also it collapsed consistent with a demolition, it takes planning for a building to come down like that.
