They say they want to help Small Business, unless you are in health care. Then they don't want you starting up a small business. Let the Government provide that. Government's acceptance of lobbyist money is why they want to see small healthcare businesses go bankrupt or be so overly regulated that they can't compete. You want to help small business? Quit creating regulation after regulation making it impossible to DO your business. Fix tort law so people won't be sued out of existence.
The jobs come back under new ownership. Instead auto unions let go of many young (non-seniority) workers and future company leadership to ensure that older (seniority) Union individuals keep their jobs at age 63, and their second homes and boats and great healthcare pensions. The problem is the policies are bad. They show the video of young people. But that's not the way it is. It's propoganda.
The problem is that in a normal economy, companies succeed by others failing. People make better products, cheaper, and with less waste, and put the "non-competitive" companies out of business. Our history is of companies being bought up by others. Compuserve, AOL and Prodigy no longer exist. Nor should they. Obama makes the case that if there were lots of jobs at those companies, we should invest in them. We should let GM fail, and let Ford purchase that company for its real value.

They say they want to help Small Business, unless you are in health care. Then they don't want you starting up a small business. Let the Government provide that. Government's acceptance of lobbyist money is why they want to see small healthcare businesses go bankrupt or be so overly regulated that they can't compete. You want to help small business? The jobs come back under new ownership. Instead auto unions let go of many young (non-seniority) workers and future company leadership to ensure that older (seniority) Union individuals keep their jobs at age 63, and their second homes and boats and great healthcare pensions. The problem is the policies are bad. They show the video of young people. But that's not the way it is. It's propoganda.

The problem is that in a normal economy, companies succeed by others failing. People make better products, cheaper, and with less waste, and put the "non-competitive" companies out of business. Our history is of companies being bought up by others. Compuserve, AOL and Prodigy no longer exist. Nor should they. Obama makes the case that if there were lots of jobs at those companies, we should invest in them. We should let GM fail, and let Ford purchase that company for its real value.

@aurzada That's not bad thinking...actually I think GM should have just been allowed to go into Chapter 11 instead of being compelled to take a government bailout...that would have given them a chance to restructure their debt and deal with the unsustainable UAW pension time bomb etc...as it is now,the unions still have the upper hand and it's doubtful they can become competitive like before..and I speak as a long time GM customer and former GMAC employee who hates to see what has transpired

The great depression lasted longer because the government got involved. This one has lasted longer because the government got involved.

This year, however, the trustees have postponed its release indefinitely. The program's financial condition continues to remain hidden from public view — and by many accounts will continue to be so until the end of the fiscal year its that bad. Medicare.medicaid is also broke and can not be sustained. So what happens when the Government has no money to pay you?
