You know, when a woman can sing like that at age 81, I'd say there's no excuse for anybody else to tell her she's doing something to screw up the longevity of her voice.
she's been much more heavy than this..actually she's been singing heavenly with that weight for over 30 years now...so I guess she's ok with it..are you ? any more pertinent remarks about her art ?
thanks for your concern about me becoming a "snippy bitter bitch", since you don't know me from Adam that is, as usual, a very pertinent remark..personally I don't think you are a bitch at all, in fact I didn't write anything personally insulting towards you..just that a word about her remarkable voice may be better than your superficial remark that is neither here nor there...personally I'm gay too but I've learned to see beyond looks and style ..guess what I discovered : substance!
@Dirk... my, what a short memory you have! the "snippy", personally insulting part came when you sarcastically asked if I had" any more pertinent remarks about her art." remember?
"Superficial remark"? Ridiculous. Being concerned about someone's weight, for ME, is NOT superficial, but a substantive HEALTH concern. I like her, and her voice... it would be great if she has the health needed to keep singing and sharing her gift!
@Dirk... in fact, my first comment makes it perfectly clear that it's NOT superficial. I said I WORRY about her weight, I was sympathetic and said it must make it harder to sing, which it DOES. I know this from personal experience.
A truly consumate artist and a delightful person, also a very great actress who takes you right to where the song is.
When you think of all the old has beens and never were's who are still trying to belt out tunes well past the age when experience should have told them to give up, it is winderful to see someone performing at the top of her very conciderable game. I last saw her at Ronnie Scott's; la stupenda!

Gosh I worry about her weight, she's so heavy these days. Poor thing, it must make it harder to sing too.

Now, now, Dirk, no need to be a snippy bitter bitch! It's very unbecoming.
Not to mention 4 "thumbs down" so far... weird. People are actually giving "thumbs down" because I'm CONCERNED for this Broadway legend?
As someone who has been very heavy as well, you people need to realize that concern is not a bad thing!
