jarre literally created techno music- eletronica i bet you if you asked some one who loves techno guess when this came out and they didn't know about jarre.. would tell you it either came out in the 90's or a few years back it came out in the late 70's.. he was clearly a head of his time and literally wrote the book for techno!

Love the early synth era (JMJ, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Vangelis etc). Still, I think the Oxygène theme runs out with the first album, the 1997 continuation is too banal. Much less characterful, more same-y, too uptempo; doesn't convey the same ambiance.

it is interesting how this piece is made around apparently contradictory feelings: around deep sadness and endless naive optimism. It touch us in something univerversal in the human soul that probably goes back in our first emotions as little children; when the warm and reassuring voice of our mother was healing our fears and pains. something we also found in "diva", a completly different much less commercial piece in Zoolook album. "Jean" (as in "John") "Michel" (As in "Michelle") Jarre (as in "Jar", roll the J slightly)
