I haven't heard any of his other music, but i heard this awhile back on the Current in Minneapolis and instantly had to Shazam it and put it in my collection. Such a moving song, he accurately describes the pain of what I would feel like if I lost a son. Wish I had seen him at 1st Ave.
Wow, I have seen Mason like 4 or 5 times in concert. I hadn't been listening to him much this last year or so though. I just now started getting into the blood of man, THIS SONG IS ROCKTASTIC!!!!!
you all should stream "the current" online, its a MN based public radio station, you can stream for free online and get all sorts of bomb artists mr jennings included
what i really like about this song is its not the usual angry-calling-out-the-man stuff you hear a lot. Don't get me wrong, i like that stuff too, this is just more sad then angry. Its like, heres the price of war, now is it worth it? It forces you to acknowledge the pain war causes.
rolling stone magazine said "The Field" "may be the most moving anti-war song ever written from a parent's perspective." he has skills like dylan for sure. but better vocals
@chocolateflavoredgum haha!! I've been living in San Antonio for a year now. I just assumed the radio stations suck and never listen to them. Thanks for the intel.
Amazing radio station from Minneapolis, which can be streamed live 24/7. This was #6 on the top 89 of 2009, I recommend checking it out, and there are no commercials.
Nice song, I find it sad though =[ b/c "it's a mother missing her son who can't come back" Sad =_( or that's how I interpret it. Very nice song though :)
such a great song... Masons soul seems to come out in his music... See him live if you haven't (although he is skipping Utah this time around:( I have been listening to this whole cd over and over again on Pan.dora He is easily in the top handful of great singersongwriters today
i have the chills.

Why are shits like justin beiber and katy perry better selling than this guy? Proof that humanity is de-evolving.

This is a really meaningful song. Mason's got a huge bunch of songs people would be amazed about if he were better known.

@firethief I like that he is still quite a hidden gem in the industry - his writing is very compassionate.
