  • cadet hegarty, c company, class of 76. i am a veteran of the USMC. i am retired from my service connected injuries. i love my country, VFMA and the Marine Corps. one of the most enduring memories of plebe life and company affiliation is the practice of polishing the brass tags on every lampost in ones company area. the names, rank and unit of those slain in combat for our liberty, from this very ground is a sobering lesson for those whom seek to follow the lesson. i still recall the names.

  • looking sharp

    Aldo D'Alessandro 88

    D-TROOP

  • glad i aint there no more

  • I remember hearing those horns and drums a mile down the road where i grew up. Only on a good windy day.

  • Just a general note here- I've been thinking about applying for the Early Commissioning Program at Valley Forge, and I was wondering how it compares to what Wentworth has.

Also, can college cadets be part of the artillery unit?

  • @Jurassic0Al im not too familiar with Wentworths ROTC program...is it the college in boston, Mass? Then engineering school? If you're looking to do engineering i would suggest looking at Mass Maritime academy which is in Bourne, Mass.....but yes College cadets can be apart of E-battery which is artillery....unless the rules have changed since I was there in 2000!! Happy hunting!!!

  • @pimpinpickle- Wentworth is in Lexington, Missouri, actually.

I wasn't specifically looking for engineering stuff, no.

Oh, good show, then. If I get to go to VF I'll certainly look into that.

  • @Jurassic0Al have you also looked at marion military institute?

  • yeah , so did I. but thank's anyway

  • ok, cool man... hahahaha.... does any body know where he is ? would like to get in touch with him. i'm one of the boy's from CURACAO :D

  • @hedushi no idea...i tried looking him up on FB but no luck

  • was that tantillo??

  • @hedushi yes it was!

  • i got a letter from VFMC, I suppose do to my interest in the USMA. The letter told me that i had already been accepted and it was only a matter of payment. the more i look into it, it seems more and more Alumni are disappointed with the schools current direction. I was going to do 2 years at my local community college, but this letter has delayed my decisions. Any advice?

  • @somehowsane- I'd say give Valley Forge a go. It's got to be better than the average civilian community college.

  • Field Music all the way!

  • Holy Fuck this was my plebe year! I never thought I would see this again!

  • I was the last F CO company commander 05C' Glad to see the D&C looks sharp; Better commands then the regular army lol. Sad they let girls in, damn shame.

  • I know my opinion wont value much since I'm a cadet, but isn't this more of the staff's fault than it is the cadets? It is the staff that train the leaders and also set the guidlines in the guidon. If they slack off and change guidlines to be easier, won't EVERYTHING change as it seems it already has?

  • everyones opinion matters and since you are a cadet i value anything you would have to say...you are right...the staffing over the years has changed; therefore relaxed rules and discipline is the number one crash on the schools old core values...i blame the new administration!! A civilian running a military school doesnt sit well for me!!

  • same with us cadets. we know he's better with the finacial aspects (which have come to be a great help) but he's doesn't realy care about the miliary aspects. Dr. Anderson, Dean of Academics doesn't care about the military aspecs either. together they are killing the school. It ticks me off when the alumni start sayin the cadets "suck" because we don't march the way they did. IT'S WHAT WE WERE TAUGHT! Blame the Leaders.....no, don't, blame the staff who taught the leaders, Not us.

  • I think a new day has come as of December 18, 2009. I can only hope the Board of Trustees will make an attempt to restore the traditions that made VFMAC unique. You do not have to be like the old alums like me, but I am hoping you will dig deep within and help restore the pride that seems to have been replaced by something I can't identify with. Good luck, a lot of alums are hoping you future alums will turn this around!

    Al '71C

  • yeah they all suck....i remember my plebe night there....400 in the morning ...get up get up get outta ya rack....i remember "reracking " squaring my meals... all theses guys look like twinkies, the line are sloppy, i was in B company and we consistently had "best lines" i remember goin to the king of prusiia mall and picking up girls...that was when the "Forge" was real,it will never be the same ....ever...

  • Ahhhh...the memories of playing for 2nd mess. Barker and I were on that drumline together. Too bad we had to look at Offner's butt! (J/K Greg) Is anyone going to alumni weekend this year? Bimbi and I should be there.

  • heres a question for you. How much can I make selling my old uniform from valley forge

  • When i was just messing around seeing what I would get from a army surplus store, they guy offered me 350 dollars for everything..including the medals and ribbons and junk...then offered me 300 for my saber...but this was 9 years ago, im sure things are different now...

  • Anyone have a NCO sword want to sell? I agree with most of comment, the school had gone soft, cadets forget how to march, where did our "tradition" go? I remember my first day at VF, I was told that the place was built on tradition.... sad!!

  • I believe you can call the bookshop and order one if you were a senior NCO while at VF...I know a friend of mine broke his saber and ordered a new one...but nothing beats the memory of the "sword" you used while at the school...I still have mine hanging on my wall...good memories with scars on my ears!!! :D

And yes built on tradition...the good days!!!

  • VFMAC has turned too soft the last few years. I remember it in the 80s man it was tough. Not as tough as in the 60s but tougher than now.

  • Even when i went back in 98 it was softer than the year before, but in reality the school has gone down the drain these past few years...i keep getting emails from alumni who are just as disappointed as me..sigh...

  • Ya thats 2000 with Tantillo as 1st captain, and offner as drum major. I was a snare player. Offner is now working as a trainer near philly still.

  • What kind of trainer? haha I remember making a fight movie with offner and the metcalfe twins!!!! Still have those videos but youtube knocked some off cause of music copyright crap, even though its a part of the fairuse law...shrug

  • Comment removed

  • this is 2000.....i was in the band.....offner is drum major so its 2000

  • damn right thats offner!!! He was my boy back in the day...i wonder what he is up 2 now...i only keep in touch with a handful of people...remember i was a provost no one liked me ;p

  • IT was back in good ol 2000

  • no this is older then that i imagen

  • how old is this 04,05

  • I get upset when i think of what this school has become now.

  • The corps has great style! Hooah! Good show!

    Bob M

  • the corps is OOHRAH the army is HOOAH

  • so then is the corps a marine oriented organization? I thought it was oriented toward army rotc. thanks, Bob M

  • the Corps as in the Marine Corps

  • @BoneBone2012- I think Bob M actually was talking about "The Corps" as in "The Corps of Cadets" at Valley Forge.

  • But i do feel wat your saying it was in ur eyes thought and i could imagine

  • I am sorry if i was out of line just bitter that my school has changed a lot!!!

  • I'm not trying to barge into this conversation, but that isn't all thats changed. Ever since Mcgeorge became the school's president, the school has gone downhill in terms of standard. He's a civillian and I don't think he really cares about the school's code or the standard that is supposed to be upheld. And with the rumor circulating that Col. Doyle is retiring, the school won't have an once of military in it.

  • Not barging, trust me I get tons of emails from the alumni on how the school lacks military form now a days, personally when i went to revisit the school not ONE cadet saluted me...i remember being taught show respect and salute all civilians on campus!!! Arm got tired on family day but it was well worth it at the time!!! Just sad to see hwo much things have changed, its not what it was 9 years ago thats for sure!!!

  • yet in a way i could understand to be honest..but still

  • Its all about a code...you go to a school that was perfect in your eyes, made you who you were...then a few years down the road the school runs into money troubles and A LOT of things have to change....its sad, because the school had a great name as being the last all male military school left in the country...as a former soldier in the Army, i personally can not stand women soldiers...nothing but trouble!!!

  • True but even now as a female most of the males have respect for me because i dont hold my self to female standards...maybe its not females maybe its the indivual and how females knoow they can get away with shyt...you have shyt bag males in the corps that do the same thing that shoudnt be an excuse...I had most of the respect from my time in the USMC that would never compare me to another "female" knowing what im capable of

  • Wow ur really gonna bitch about females being in the school thats sad.

  • yea np

  • yea no point in giving money to the school if they decide to go to shit, and yea one more thing, the school changed its name its now pennsylvania military academy

  • WTF!!!!! why did they change its name? man they have gone to shit...i guess i can be thankful i went when the school still stood for something...thanks for the insight russianrocket...sigh

  • yea and football players get privilages and get to do w/e, but yea a lot of alumni are mad about how the school changed

  • Big reason i stopped donating and going to the reunions..mostly because of the girls being allowed in the school and i know they did it for money, but it killed everything the school stood for...at least in my eyes.

  • oh yea by the way this school is different now, college cadets get college nights where plebes and everyone from the college during study hall can go to the boodle shop, and you can't make people do more than 20 push-ups, and 2nd mess is only mandatory on some days and 1st mess is kind of mandatory and 3rd mess is optional, the school name is different, they got cameras at the C-company barracks and you can't really haze the plebes anymore, and its now allowed to be a day school for the academy

  • WTF you serious? See i love the school and everything i got from it, but after they allowed women to join i kind of turned the other cheek...so hearing all this even makes me more mad that the school keeps changing its ways...sigh...

  • who was 1st cap

  • Tantillo

  • 2000

  • how long ago was this?
