@voltvoltvolt1234 it does appear to be common in the pet schnauzer genetic make up.pet. breeders in general do not seems to be as maticulous in choosing their mating dogs and I believe overbreeding causes issues as well. If your schnauzer gets clipped with clippers it will also change the texture of the hair that is suppose to be hand stripped.
the way you scissor the head is interesting, much more like hair stylist trim hair, usually when i scissor i just take a comb, fluff up all the coat on the head and then scissor across the topknot, but i was interested in trying your way and i did, and it works wonders (when the dog can sit still enough) if not i scissor the old way, but very nicely done
I like how we all have our own style and ways of doing things, iy is what makes us unique! I find my way easy cause that is how I learned, I could never get your way or a a snap on comb to look right even though it would be faster. Thank you for your nice comments!
i like the way you scissor for when i feel like adding layers in the dog's coat. like...today i trimmed a cockapoo that was a shavedown dog, his coat was pretty long, i trimmed the sides of his head with thinning shears hair stylist style and it created such nice layers on the dog's coat
do you compete in dog grooming competitions as well?
exactly! i like mine to be as soft as possible so stripping is OUT! also, i like the hair on their head to be a little longer. it just looks cuter to me (plus its softer). this is why im watching these videos. i need to be able to do it myself since im so picky! lol i would have liked to see exactly how you did the bottom of the feet. anyway, thanks for posting! 5 stars!
Yes, all pet groomers should know proper styles for the breed but there are many variations that pet owners come up with so it does throw off the correct look sometimes.
I have a question: Do all pet grooming places and places where people take their dogs to get their toes clipped and hair cut know how to groom a Schnauzer the way they should be groomed??
My advice for grooming regularity is for a puppy, start after their puppy shots are complete(about 3 months old), get them used to the grooming process so they will not be terrors later on! Every 6-8 weeks is a good routine for most dogs needing a haircut. Proper at home maintenance is a factor as well!
That dog was so good! My dog runs away if he even catches a glimpse of his brush! Hes a lancashire heeler cross with some kind of terrier so lucky for him he doesnt need to be groomed that often.
Im getting a miniature schnauzer puppy in 6 weeks and im looking for some tips on caring for them properly. Can someone tell me how often they need to be groomed?
Hey I thought you did a great job! I am a groomer too and am starting on Youtube, do you get permission from the customers to put thier dogs vidoe's on here? I just put a couple on but I asked those people. Just curious how most do it. Again very cute pet trim. How long have you been grooming? I have been doing it for about 7-8 years now.
Thank you all for your nice comments, Tammy Jean is a good girl and loves the attention! We tried her in the typical schnauzer trim and she does not look as cute so her owners and I both agree this look is best for her!
You have some really good skills! Can you add some more videos of your grooming. Most of the time I wouldn't want to look at something like this but you made it entertaining!
Thank you for this very informative video! I clipped my mini schnauzer puppy myself for the first time today (he was also clipped before we brought him home) but before seeing this video. I found some nice written instructions for the typical cut but the one thing that was fuzzy was where the beard ends/begins. Thank you for your explanation! Thank you for showing the legs as well.
If you paid attention at all to the video you will see I was not doing a typical schnauzer trim. I am a pet groomer and my clients come up with alot of the styles.
That was the most informative video I have watched for grooming. Keep it up. I have just started my grooming schooling and love to watch tech. videos!
My miniature schnauzer has very thin hair, is this common among the breed? He's 11 months old currently.

every groomer has their own style. If the groomer cant change to accomodate the look you want then you just find another groomer that can

I always bathe my dogs first, some groomers dont, it is a preference.

Very nice to see something a little different on a schnauzer. You are an excellent groomer.

Umm, in what universe does this style cut even resemble a schnauzer?
terrible! Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude but this is a very bad style to respresent the schnauzer breed.....
