@59feer Actually, Billie Joe Armstrong wrote the book, which is kind of like a basic script for the play. He was very involved in the entire process of creating the musical and in fact even played St. Jimmy in it for several shows. So technically, Green Day kind of did make this. Or they at least knew what they were dealing with along the way.

Being in musical theatre pretty much my whole life, I really cant agree with any of you. Do I love green day, without a shadow of a doubt YES! but this musical was a DISASTER! It did not convey the beauty of the album at all, instead it through in a very GLEE like plot and turned it into a pretty easy to interpret story.

@jazzygeofferz I'm pretty sure this was their idea, they pushed for it. Kinda like Tommy, or We Will Rock You or Mama Mia. It says a lot about you if you judge highly trained actors/singers/dancers by the standards of a show choir. No disrespect to show choirs. Green day have taken a chance, and from what I can see I like it. As a fan surely you should at least respect the decision, especially when they may face much derision from purist theatre goers. Rant over.

@jazzygeofferz Green Day didn't really make this, the only thing they have to do with this is the original music, and even then they made the "American Idiot" album in a way in which they were hoping for a movie or something similar. Green Day watched this show and enjoyed it, they even said that a couple of the songs were better then when they originally recorded it. I'll admit that the songs aren't as good as the original, but they are still good covers in the song (in my opinion)
