I am glad this video is out. Europeans are pathological in nature and this proves it. Edward Said may say a lot of things, but the footage above does speak for itself. Those scenes portray utter madness and zealotry of a community whose faith is based on a warlord's sayings and whose hostility of the outgroup non-faithfull is notorious for anyone willing to just read the first one or two chapters of the quran.

This is not a good thing for humanity, any sane individual ought not tolerate it's presence in his or her community.

The pacing of this series is awkward.  How did we go so quickly from the French expedition in Egypt to the contemporary Palestine debate? That didn't work well.

Anyway, the debate surrounding Orientalism is a very interesting one. I would highly encourage anyone to have a look at 'Dangerous Knowledge: Orientalism and Its Discontents' by Robert Irwin before uncritically accepting either Said's premises or his conclusions about Orientalist scholarship.

Newsflash- Jihadists justify their violence and terror with the Koran. That doesn't reveal any great insights into the nature of Islam. The same could be said for the bible which has been used to justify slavery and genocide against indigenous and animistic people. Does this mean that the bible endorses all of these evil things in some essential way? No. The Bible and Christianity cannot be reduced to the interpretations that some of its adherents give to it. The same is true for Islam.
