I passed my Technician Class Exam on 3/6/09 got my callsign 3/12/09 :) I will study for the General Class License once i get a HF Radio i can listen to for a while.
well you can talk on the 6m , wether you consider that hf or not. Im not rich either. I dont have a steady income (jhs). I would say that if you have a computer, and internet (witch you do obviously) get echolink, you can talk to people, repeaters, and links all acrost the world
Is there an exams material for study? I mean an organised e-book? I imagine that it should be something if the exams were like the "Microsoft Office" exams, I mean there is always a typical learning material to get a certification paper.
I'm not rich either, but I strongly think to start learning the HAM radio. While you live in the U.S you are lucky because you can buy second hand and good stuff. You can start with a receiver, and learning the theory. If you pass the exams, you continue by buying a second hand good tranceiver for a beginner. Then by passing the years, the other collegues, HAMers from the club will help you to buy a better stuff. The problem here is the learning material. The exams are not organised so well.
Nice!!

oh one more thing what is the minimum License i need to talk to people across the world?
i was thinking Technician Class,no code but i think that is 2 meter Only?
JamesJB32 3 years ago
Yea, I think technicians only get 2m and above. But you can do DX of 2m too, sometimes.
On HF, I think you can only do code on a very narrow portion.
Get the technician!- then upgrade to general.

By the way, you should get a V/U handheld for satellite communications or with the space station.

Btw you were right, its 2m/70cm/6m/10m and CW on 80m and some others.

Great video. I teach a ham radio class here in Michigan, and I've had many of the same kind of students in my classes.
