  • very nice from italy :D

  • Oh.....I Should view and red more reference again....

  • such amazing teacher

  • I wish articles were that easy... there're still much more rules to study about articles like means of transport, institutions in society, forms of entertainment, musical instruments, etc.

  • say what

  • I lost you long time ago

  • vivid.

  • You are a very good teacher.

  • Thanks!

  • very nice lesson

  • In Philadelphia the Phillies are Baseball and the Flyers are Hockey, and being Canadian im surprised you didn't know that ;-)

  • amazing help! I have to teach this tomorrow and this just made it so much clearer to explain!! Obrigadaaa (Thank youuu)

  • Dude you saved my ass, I have "A" presentation this friday in my institute where o native english speakers go and I have to explain a/an/the, Ill base my work in your explanation but Ill have to reduce my level and fastness because they are basic level, your making a great contribution thanks a lot and gud lock !

  • Hey ........thanks you very much ...its is ga great help....thanks for that

  • Sometimes it's really hard to understand articles. Especially, for people who speak Slavic languages. We don't have them at all.

  • ok you teach articles well, but you fail at "what your talking about?" you mean you're?

  • Amazing african guy! :)

  • good job ! :)

  • goo job ! :)

  • black guy is so cute

  • 6:10 = LoL

  • Very informative. keep upload more

  • you rock!

  • this is gay

  • Thank you so much! ^^ Was a great lesson! Like I never saw before!

  • Thankyou so much,so easy to understand.

  • this is great and useful! thx

  • you are Great .. thank you!

  • Hi, I'm from Brazil. I don't know I am right, but I learned that we use "a" before the words that its first letter sounds as a vowel, an example: we have the word "hour" and we use "an hour" and not "a hour". So it isn't right if we teach that we use "an" before the words that starts with vowel. I don't know I am right, I want some opinion! Despite of it your videos are the best! I have never found videos like yours! I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong! Thank you for everything. Kisses!

  • @amandafmp Hi, you're right. It depends on a sound of the first letter not a letter itself. 'hour'- we don't pronounce 'h' sound. That's the reason why 'an' comes before 'hour'. It is the right thing to teach that we use 'an' before the word that pronounces with a vowel sound. I hope it helps you.

  • Hi James, great video but...

'The' is NOT only for singular objects.

    Examples:

The dog. The dogs. The pen. The pens. The man. The men. Singular and plural.

a & an are for singular objects.

    Also...

a is followed by a consonant SOUND. an is followed by a vowel SOUND.

an hour The h is a consonant but not a consonant sound. Hour starts with a vowel SOUND....the same as our. (Crazy English!)

Thanks for THE video. It was A pleasure. THE pleasure was all mine. :)

  • Awesome lesson, James :) As always :)

  • Greetings to you

    Techer James ,

Thank you for your Time , Keep in going

  • I enjoyed your video. Just one little thing- you spelled "your" when it should have been "you're" as in "when everyone knows what you're talking about."

  • 'The pen is good', yea a stupid sentence but I got the idea, and that is what matters to me. ..... Thanks teacher.

  • @yanickborg

He is talking about words that start with the souns that the words you or your make.

he is not contracting "you are" as your.

    yanicklachingasborg. Pon atención.

  • Very nice...even though I know this already.

  • Everyone knows what you're talking about. NOT Everyone knows what your talking about.

  • There's a mistake. "The" can be use with plural objects (of course if we mean specific things). On the other hand he didn't mention that "a" can't be use with uncountable nouns. Also "the" can't be use with the names of continents, countries, towns etc. Anyway, this lesson was very helpful for me when I didn't understand english well.

  • GUYS ONE MORE THING THUMPS IT UP SO EVERY ONE CAN SEE. what i learned from my teacher that you also use (The) in example : a country starts with United you will say it like, The United States of America or The United kingdom or you can also use (The) in example names of mountains, names of oceans, names of seas. example:The Pacific ocean or The Dead sea or The mount everest. guys hope this helped im still in high school im not a teacher or something thumb this up so every one can see!!

  • but sir, that isn't a pen

  • beautiful girl add yahoo messenger or MSN blondinas21@yahoo.com

  • beautiful girl add yahoo messenger or MSN blondinas21@yahoo.com

  • You're a very charming person and you know what you're doing! Thumbs up! You know, I live in Russia and I understand how difficult it is to study a foreign language whan you don't live in a country where this language is spoken. Your classess make up to it a lot!.

  • you are a good teacher, look very confident, and explain things very well, except for the fact that you spelled "your" when it should have been "you're." Kind of surprised a teacher would make such a mistake and it kind of loses your credibility as a good teacher for grammar lessons.

  • @draquela Even the best of us make mistakes. It is good to draw the teacher's attention to it. But it does not mar their credibility. It just means you have learnt well from him/her (whomsoever your teacher is/was), your puntuation(s) and grammar.

  • Thx u helped i have presentation next week and my title is articles :D

  • tnx a lot am stupid and i understand THE subjecj

  • thanks for THE lesson ^_^

  • you the best thanks alot

  • you should use you're and not your ... just making sure I'm not confused

  • WHOA "everyone knows what YOUR talking about"???!?!?!

  • thank you so so so much for great explanation

  • translate it into russian

  • thanks :) I'm also left handed

  • you helped me so much, thanks a lot man

  • What a pity about writing “your” instead of “you're” for “you are” on the board, but it does not detract from the lesson which is very clear and appreciated. Alexander Pope reminds us that to err is human.

  • wo0o0ow u r good Teacher... i am from Saudi Arabia thanxxxxxxxxx

    God bless you>>(^.^)

  • It was really a good lesson, man. But:

Why did you use a with 'thingS? Is it still the plural or everything has changed for now?? haha

And what about the abstract nouns? They're uncountable so what article should I use with them. (if any) Please. There's really a ambush in it for me. I need your help!

    Thanks. Waiting hopefully.

    Gritings from Russia and good-luck!

  • 5:45 The correct form is "you're" ;)

  • James is my favorite teacher. I wish I had a class with you Mr.E Lol

  • dude you are amazing .....

  • ! thanks for helping us to improve our eng ... !

  • Hey James,

You rock! I teach ESL students and you have such a clear, kind manner.

    A.

  • there is an error on the white board. "your" should be replaced with "you are"

  • Nice

  • I'd like 2 say that I learned a useful thing today. Please , keep the good work.

  • @5:45 "everyone knows what *your* talking about" ^_^'

  • @Holek2

Wow....I thought I was the only one who caught that? I wasn't the least bit surprised either.

  • Your explanations of articles in spoken and written discourse are likely informative, but please don't mislead others about American sports, i.e., the Philadelphia Flyers won the biggest baseball game? Don't the Flyers play hockey?!

  • Hi James,

I like you're presentation, however, "the" is specific and when everyone knows what you're talking about that is also "specific" because it is a common subject, therefore, you don't have to teach anything other than "specific" when you teach "the".

  • an excellent lesson on article usage........Anand

  • He is VERY good at explaining. A mistake: At 5:36 he wrote "your" whereas it should be either "You are" or "You're". ;)

  • He's a cool ass new age teacher.
