I have played high level hockey before thats normal, sometimes miss happs happen, cheap shots are thrown, so what its hockey, look at any defenseman that is battling in front of the net, they all look like the same battles, and if they dont, chances are a goal is produced by the lack of aggresiveness.

ok first off im a pens fan, second i was at the game and i can say they were knocking fleury over all game it was ridiculous and foligno needed to be put in his place. that being said crosby, for someone who was preaching about head injuries, shouldnt have been the one to do it and he should have realized it. Obviously he should have realized that people would take this as an opportunity to bash him and the pens.
A few things I believe should be cleared up: Foligno did partially had it coming to him, he had bumped into the goaltedner 4 times that game, Croby was fed up with it. Anyone who plays hockey understands. Don't fuck with a goaltender. 2) While it is moderately hypocritical for crosby to do that, it wasn't a hard hit, and Chris Kuntiz immediately took on Foligno, Crosby really didn't have an opportunity, plus he was checking on his goaltender. Pretty average play guys. Not a fan of either teams.
I hope somebody does the same thing to him and puts him out with another concussion. You would think a guy who just spent as long as he did out with a concussion would NOT deliver deliberate headshots.

Does Crosby receive special treatment? Yes. There have been other concussions in the NHL. No hype for their returns. Crosby received hype on multiple networks for several weeks.
Crosby wasn't even gone the longest in the NHL for a concussion incident. Crosby missed 11 months. Pierre-Marc Bouchard missed a year+. No fanfare for his return. Suspension for accidentally hitting another player in the head. So, why can crosby hit the head but no one else can?
Where is all this evidence that Folingo (or any other player) would have been fined if he did this to crosby? In a scrum a week or so ago crosby was pushed in the head by a guy in a scrum and neither player received a fine for that. You can't just assume if someone did that to crosby he'd get a fine, that's just stupidity.

Foligno probably should have received an interference penalty, simply because he was on top of a goalie, albeit it a second at max.

I'm from Canada, but I hate listening to Canadian annoncers.. (most of them) They are always soo bias to the Canadian teams.. I mean, that's fine, but still, who cares about Crosby having a scrap infront of the net. This was blownn wayy out of proportion in my opinion.. Anyway, I prefer the Verses announcers over anyone, they actually make nonbias statements and commentate a great game. i am not a crosby fan, i do think he is very skilled and a highly respectable player, but it was a battle in front of the net... I have played high level hockey before thats normal, sometimes miss happs happen, cheap shots are thrown, so what its hockey, look at any defenseman that is battling in front of the net, they all look like the same battles, and if they dont, chances are a goal is produced by the lack of aggresiveness.

A few things I believe should be cleared up: Foligno did partially had it coming to him, he had bumped into the goaltedner 4 times that game, Croby was fed up with it. Anyone who plays hockey understands. Don't fuck with a goaltender. 2) While it is moderately hypocritical for crosby to do that, it wasn't a hard hit, and Chris Kuntiz immediately took on Foligno, Crosby really didn't have an opportunity, plus he was checking on his goaltender. Pretty average play guys. Not a fan of either teams.

Crosby wasn't even gone the longest in the NHL for a concussion incident. Crosby missed 11 months. Pierre-Marc Bouchard missed a year+. No fanfare for his return. Suspension for accidentally hitting another player in the head. So, why can crosby hit the head but no one else can?

In a scrum a week or so ago crosby was pushed in the head by a guy in a scrum and neither player received a fine for that. You can't just assume if someone did that to crosby he'd get a fine, that's just stupidity.

It's an illegal hit. An elbow like that calls for a penalty just like interfering with the goalie should have called for a penalty. Crosby embellishes more that ANY other player. He is master of the Swan Dive. It should be no big deal, but if it happened to Crosby it would lead to a league fine and suspension for many players. Crosby is a black eye to the NHL, the Penguins organization and Lemieux. He deserves more bench time.

Sidney Crosby misses half a year of hockey due to a headshot. So... he elbows a guy in the head a few games after he returns. Then, his teammate starts mauling the guy he elbowed. All the hype behind his return and then he starts hitting/elbowing guys in the head. This is bad publicity for the NHL, and they may think twice about who they support in the future.
Foligno probably should have received an interference penalty, simply because he was on top of a goalie, albeit it a second at max.

Not a Penguins' fan, but what 's the problem here? Yeah -- that's a penalty, but it happens ALL THE TIME in hockey. It's no big deal, and I say "props" to Crosby for defending his goalie (Unlike the sabres).
Why don't people make a big deal out of this all of the other times it happens?

I'm a big hockey fan, and not necessarily a penguins fan, but you are stuck in the past. I follow hockey extremely closely, and I'll tell you that the players these days have no problem with Crosby.
Sure -- they did when he first came into the league as a bratty 18-year old, but Crosby has grown up, and the NHL players have all gone past that.
The only people who still hate crosby are the "Homer" fans of the Penguins' rival teams. Get over it -- Most NHL players have.

Can't be foligno's fault he tripped over fleury's stick, it's ok to give him a shove but the elbow was too much. I know it's hockey but rules have changed and elbowing for no reason other than "running the goalie" is absurd. I know there are crosby fans out there but it sucks to see you defend him if you know it was wrong.

@ZKahley two reasons. 1) anyone who so much as touches Crosby's head is going to get suspended and 2) didn't you notice that immediately after the play both the ref and linesman stood right behind Crosby so nobody could grab him?
The elbow was dirty. Crosby will get his eventually and every single fan defending this elbow will be on here crying about it.

I'm not a Crosby fan, but I don't think this was all that bad, and any talk about suspension is nonsense. I mean its a dirty play, no doubt, but one that is incredibly common in the crease. If a player like Crosby having just returned from an extended head injury wants to elbow people in the face, fine, let him. Chances are the players will work it out amongst themselves.

Personally, I hate sidney crosby with all of my heart. Being a hockey player and fan says I was born, I dont like his attitude, his being worshipped by announcers for having simply above average, not legendary statistics. That being said, I really dont think this was that big of a deal...its all about protecting your goalie, and no foligno would not have a suspension, he wouldve gotten a two minute minor for elbowing. I hope Crosby gets knocked the fuck out. I hate him with a passion. I've never hated someone so much in my life (other than lebron james). If he died tomorrow I wouldn't miss him. He is a detriment to the game. for all the people saying that it was goaltender interferance...it wasnt cause if you look closely folibno was not in the bluepaint, fleury stuck out his right blocker which caused him to fall and it was evident foligno had no intention of falling cause he wasn't even looking in that direction and blocker just caused him to fall over. and yeah that was a cheapshot.
