How is your children's English? I've heard some people wait until their child starts school and lets them learn most of their English there. I wondered if this could actually be a good idea? My boyfriend is Korean, and if we have kids they will definitely speak Korean and English, but I also want them to speak German, my other language. I'm not sure the best way to go about this. Put German off or start with it... But your wife's Chinese is encouraging! I'm trying my best to improve my Korean..
@blainewho yeah, right now my wife and I are deciding on where to send my daughter to school. Their English is pretty good, but their primary language is still Chinese. In your situation, being trilingual is tricky but can be done if you're dedicated enough and stick with all 3 languages. One way I've seen is for one parent to speak one language, another parent to speak another language, and friends or family speak the other language. Let me know how it goes.
@blainewho If you live in the US, you could speak German and your boyfriend speak Korean, and your child will pick up English in the environment. Then, maybe when they are older you could speak somewhat to them in English (if they struggle with it). If you live in Germany, same thing but you speak English.
Thank you so much for the information and the encouragement, it gives me HOPE that indeed it can work out. You have served as a great role model to me! If you wouldn't mind me asking, is Chinese the language only spoken in the home (full immersion) or do you switch back and forth? Just trying (as your video said, there is a lot of tips) but not a lot of real life. Did your wife ever feel excluded when you were speaking Chinese, how did you work this out? If you don't mind
I was wondering if you wife is fluent in Chinese or if this is something that the two of you practiced (and you taught her/supported her learning) prior to the children being born. I am interested because I am a Caucasion and my boyfriend is Chinese -Cantonese, and we are trying to figure out what to do because i don't speak Chinese yet. How did you and your wife work this out? Advice appreciated!
@hcasl My wife started learning Chinese after we got married. She took some college classes and later even received a bachelor's degree in Chinese from her university because she took so many classes. It's not easy, though. Hopefully your boyfriend is very supportive and helpful. Props to you for wanting to go through that journey. I encourage lots of speaking because classes emphasize writing. Buy movies and get Chinese podcasts to help you get use to hearing it and help with the accent.
U HAVE A GREAT FAMILY!!!))))))) hot wife, cute kids!!) i m Taiwanese American too, and know 2 languages and cultures is one of the best things i did in my life, keep up the good work, bro! k chen

Thanks for a very educating video. How was the woman the speaking to your daughter?

@MaxxG That woman speaking to my daughter was my wife, and she was the one recording the film and talking to her.

This is very very helpful. Like you said, it's all about immersion.
I have mixed friends who wish their parents pushed them to be bilingual (see in my latest hapa interview video ^^)
Great video!
Loved the beginning and ending by the way! So cute haha :D
