State legislatures don't set a "magical age" because that's when teenagers are mature enough to consent to sex, but because there's no way to determine every single teenager's maturity level. Brightline rules make for easier legislation where case-by-case rules are impracticable.

This was far more reckless than Dateline NBC's program: Perps didn't come in, no evidence of intent (alcohol, condoms, etc), no positive ID made. Just race out of the house and pounce. I'm sorry to say you are incorrect. This story in fact protected the perps far more than Dateline. Positive ID was made through pictures the perps sent via email to the "12" and "13 year-old-girls" they thought they were talking to. The "girls" also asked the men what they were driving so the vehicles were matched. FURTHERMORE--the perp's faces were digitized because we were NOT in bed with local police as Dateline was, so since no charges were filed we chose to mask their identities.
Lastly, each of the men knocked at the door and at least one walked in on his own. Don't fool yourself. None of these men were visiting this abandoned home at the end of a desolate street by accident.

This was far more reckless than Dateline NBC's program: Perps didn't come in, no evidence of intent (alcohol, condoms, etc), no positive ID made. Just race out of the house and pounce. That can get your station in a LOT of legal hot water, even though I agree that these perps are sick and you mean well. Perhaps the real justice is when the wives and families of these sickos see the footage, put 2 and 2 together and bail on the perps.

I'm sorry to say you are incorrect. This story in fact protected the perps far more than Dateline. Positive ID was made through pictures the perps sent via email to the "12" and "13 year-old-girls" they thought they were talking to. The "girls" also asked the men what they were driving so the vehicles were matched. FURTHERMORE--the perp's faces were digitized because we were NOT in bed with local police as Dateline was, so since no charges were filed we chose to mask their identities.
