Wow, this is a really hard song... I'm playing this piece for the summer arts festival....got any tips for the chormatic scales? I've got some trouble to make the left hand more balanced
I practiced the runs hands separately so they could play independently. Also, to improve the chromatic runs try to include several chromatic scales into a warm up routine.
For the chromatic runs, try to include several chromatic scales into a daily warm up routine. Enough proper repetition you don't have to concentrate on the runs when you play, they just happen.
@dhfeld Thanks! Also, i seem to run out of energy to do the big crec. , at the last page during the chromatic scales...And i try to make my pedal more cleaner...but the piece still sounds too dirty. any suggestions?

Very Well Done! :) However, your hands snap like the keys are red-hot coals! Weigh in w/ your fingers instead of jumping off too quick, and release some of the tension in your shoulders and wrists, you'll get a better sound.
Edward MacDowell is a gem in the rough. Once loved my America, he fell out of popularity after WWI because of the anti-German propaganda (and MacDowell studied composition in German).
This is one of my fav MacDowell pieces. Just about every tune in this suite is awesome, I've played a couple of them but haven't learned this one yet. Great job on this one, yea it's tough to hear the dynamics but people need to realize that could be the camera position and mic quality. Thanks for playing MacDowell, post some more from this suite!!
Nice job! What a demanding piece! I love MacDowell's music. It's seldom played. He's got a lot more great stuff. Hope to hear and see more videos from you of it! Keep up the good work! Long live MacDowell!! lol
I enjoyed the performance. Talented indeed. You should put his name out. Have you ever heard of Piano Society? I am sure that they would welcome a recording like this. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the kind comment. I think, somewhere in the back of my mind, that I had heard of the Piano Society. It's an interesting way of getting your work some public air time. My son may be a bit young for that. He has so much to learn, and there are so many fine young pianists out there.
Starting at measure 50 you need to make sure that you are playing very quietly, while bringing out the melody. Keep the rhythm crisp. Make sure that your hands are synchronized, especially in the chromatic section. And don't play too fast.

Well done!
Go on practicing but pay attention not to put so much tension onto your neck.

Actually, it's mostly the microphone quality. The internal mic in a camcorder is not the best fidelity sound.

your wrists could be a bit more relaxed.
and where are your cresendos?
its all just loud.

Wonderful piece, flawless playing. If only I had the extra time & if I wasn't so rusty, I would have absolutely loved to learn this piece.
