You guys are fighting a philosophy battle XD if you kill a bad person, yes you are 'ridding the world of evil' but in effect you're actually becoming 'evil' yourself, by going against what's right and killing a person. Also, Light was kind of ignorant in the sense that he didn't plan ahead; if he'd died then there'd be no-one to take over his role as Kira - the criminals would be free from the fear of Kira killing them off and there'd probably be more crime than before. But, each to one's own.

I never said there wasn't any crime with Kira around, I said that there'd probably be more crime once Kira had gone because you can't exactly argue that the crime rates hadn't lowered - because it was stated early on in the series that it had, and therefore from that one can only assume that some criminals were scared of Kira... and hence, if Kira were to die, those who'd not been convicted would've been free men once again.

But you know, like I said, it's just the way you look at it.
