Thanks. This arrangement is from Stephen Grossman's book. It's the same as a lot of the tab on the internet though. I play the same notes as the tab, but I finger the chords differently than most people. I find my way to be easier because I don't have to do the quick move with my pikny on the high E and B strings. So I end up fingering the same G chord two different ways.
It's a Larrivee OM-03. I love it. It's great for finger style, but also good for playing lead.. it has a nice fast action like an electric. The only advice I can give is to try some out and see how they work for you. Generally the smaller guitars like mine are better for fingerstyle than bigger guitars like dreadnoughts are.
I love my d-03 for everything including fingerstyle, though I've got a martin 00016 that's I use for fingerstyle. I've heard it said and I agree, "the d-03 is a versatile instrument'. I luv my larrivee too!
Thanks! I used the tab from Stefan Grossman's Mississippi John Hurt book. It's a good one to buy since it has a lot of his songs and includes two CDs full of full-length recordings. I think the tab in the book is the same as what I've seen online though.
nice job on this. check out the pat donohue version, too. man what a great song. i think this is one of the original "take this job and shove it"-type songs...
I've been struggling to learn to play this for ages now. I just can't seem to get it even trying to follow the Stefan Grossman lesson. Guess I'm just not good enough :( Only been playing a couple of years
Thanks! It took me a few weeks to get that picking pattern down, and probably a month or so to be able to sing over it. Now it's second nature. A big help was "Beginning Fingerstyle Guitar", a book by Arnie Berle and Mark Galbo. It does a good job of teaching alternating bass technique by starting really slow and adding just a little bit at a time.
great video. seeing your finger work really helps me pick up some new licks.

The guitar sound is nice...
I found that diff arrangers give diff
notes.
Whose arrangement are you using for this rendition? Please advise.
Thank you.

Nice job. You just sold me on getting the Grossman DVD with this song. Was on the fence about it.

Thanks Bryan...I have that book! I'll have to dig it out and use it again. Yeah it's that bass pattern that I really can't seem to get.
