  • what about converting xvid to dvd or 720p mkv to DVD?

  • is there an ati version of this?

  • badaboom is a horrible video encoder. Not optimized yet. Sure it's fast but the compression is horrible and the quality isn't good. NO current SLI support

Ripbot264 is so much more talented. Sure it uses CPU but the quality and compression ratio is 10x better than badaboom

    BADABOM v2 wish list

    2-pass filters for quality

    MVK support

    AutoCrop...ugly grey borders

Better compression. 2hr mp4 for iphone doesn't need to be 2.5gb...400-500mb is much better

I know nvidia will never make this happen

  • ya but for the speed the quality is not bad at all. im sure it will only improve...I hope.

  • I'm disgusted - RapiHD was designed to be useable on ANY CUDA Hardware... But Adobe have licensed it and CRIPPLED it for anything other than QuadroCX GPUs... So I'm sitting here with 2x SLI GTX "60 Black Editions which are next to useless in Premiere thanks to corporate greed. Surely both companies would make more money if they just opened up the plugin for use on all CUDA hardware!?

  • WTF? Damn that is fast.

  • a single ati 4870x2 can do 2.4Teraflops i have 2 so that should be 4.8 teraflops 4 280 gtx can do 3.77 teraflops if ati made a software for their card it would highly outperform the cuda

  • How about Avivo?

And for generic applications, Stream Computing from AMD?

  • @agungk Not sure

  • make this for Linux please

  • Already exists. Cuda runs on linux with Nvidia. But you will not get this exact interface.

  • Yes, but the actual applications (such as video transcoder like RapiHD above) don't. Cuda only provides a programming interface to the NVidia chips.

  • wow, imagine surfing porn on that screen

  • would be slick

  • yeh lifesize or giant pussy fap fap fap

  • I MUST BUY ONE... OR TWO...

  • i'd like to encode with cuda, but right now i encode at 150fps, and thats what he said the cuda app encoded at : /

  • Are you encoding HD or SD? :O

  • What is that program called?

  • OS X 10.5 snow leopard is coming out next year, and they claim to be adding gpu processing for data. i am interesting since these guys are demo'ing their tech against mac hardware. is this going into 10.6?

  • So basically is this guy talking about the new g200 video cards?

  • yeap

  • So how about it? Will this card be able to play crysis at max settings (with just one)? Those aren't really official specs.

  • Depends on the resolution and your processor, the gtx280 seems to be extremely CPU limited.

  • yay 4 CUDA, i was tinkering around with this tech a while ago, but had to leave it while NV got thier act together and released the drivers for Vista 64-bit.

I think this stuff is the future, and GPGPU is pretty much the way to go. Parallel computation of large datasets on the GPU (eg: a single video frame) iz da shizz.

In the future, i hope "multicore" will become a multi-GPU core with a main CPU controller dishing out work in parallel.

More control for the developer. :)

  • Is this going to make cg renders go faster?

or does it need some kind of plugin?

    o/

  • There are much faster programs than Itunes, even ones which are entirely CPU bound

  • What card will come "after" 9800Gx2? 10000Gt or what?

  • Rumored to be called GTX 200.

  • it will be announced mid june

i have one of these cards but i'm not allowed to post results just yet

  • Ok.

  • did you play any games with it? when it does come out, will we be flattered with its results? or will it be a mediocre improvement like the current 9 series cards?

  • I heard they are using a new naming system. The next one was to be 9900 GT or something, it is now called the GTX260 I think. They made it easier so higher numbers actually mean higher performance. Coming out in a couple weeks.

  • Honestly, that might make me buy it over a 4870 card...

  • Nvidia. Release DirectShow filters pls.

  • SWEET

  • Are you Dinos22 from XS?

  • yeah that's me

  • Is there a possibility to post more videos from that Nvidia's press conference? It looks very interesting and it always better to hear it yourself than reading reports.

If not, then that's a pitty, but thanks for that video anyway.

  • i dont see teenegers in this video by the way

  • guys this is not just latest gen

ANY G80 and later card has CUDA capability which is necessary for this software to work to use GPUs to encode

so if you buy ANY 8xxx series and later cards you are set even low end ones like 8400/8500/8600 series :)

  • clap, clap well done nvidia...

GTX 280 is blowing my mind!

  • Hardly the case, with folding at home at least ATI's 2900 and 3800s are several times faster at processing information then the PS3 is and about half the price. I imagine the same would apply for encoding video as well.

  • are you sure but already was proben that 8 ps3 together perform as a super computer

  • The person who used PS3s to simulate black holes and gravity and what not, used 16 PS3s. Random info.

  • 16 ok sorry my bad

  • this is like 400 bucks

    16 ps3 is quite a bit more

  • GTX 280 can do way more than cell in terms of flops. But it requires much more threads as a single GTX 280 has like 240 thread capability while a single cell on the ps3 has like 7.

  • in short

    280gtx > ps3

u could get three of those and itll still be cheaper than 16 ps3s

  • The Cell is either a gimped, in-order multicore CPU or a gimped, parallel coprocessor, 8 in-order cores (7 functional, one reserved by the PS3 OS, so 6) compared to either 4 highly versatile CPU cores or 16 shader clusters for a total of 128 shader ALUs in the old G80 GPU design. A graphics chip with a unified shader architecture can process hundreds of threads concurrently to mask bandwidth latency. The Cell can do, what, 16, 18 threads? The Cell is somewhere between the CPU and the GPU.

  • Thanks for sharing :)

  • Got to love those guys down at Nvidia, Thanks for showing this

  • Thanks for sharing mate :) Quiet interesting.
