@BalletTapJazz Yes, she is perfectly graceful while still being able to make her movements distinct and somewhat sharp. It's very hard to be able to make a good balance between the both and still have your movements look proper for this style of dance. She is either a natural or very experienced.

Lovely old-fashioned modern dance. You don't see this much anymore, and that's probably why so many have been mistaken about it's genre. This has some true Graham technique. Great choreography that looks great on all the dancers. Kudos to the choreographer.

An easy way to explain modern is that it's weirder- it uses movements that don't have to be standard. This is contemporary- it is fluid but it also looks like modern

The girl in group one wear a light red shirt and black or brown pants is by far the most entertaining to watch. She flows through her movements with great timing, never an unnecessary pause. The guy in group two is awesome too. He brings a masculine quality to the choreography that makes it all his own. Great job to all, everyone was great!

The result:

We, the viewer, can't see any dancer clearly.

This is not entertaining.

Consider moving the camera close to the dancers.

Record only one or two dancers at a time.

modern is everything except ballet. The reason modern dance came to be was because the people wanted to break away from the strictness of ballet. So therefor, i guess it is a bit like hip hop. But modern is just making shapes with your body that youve never made before, and modern, by most viewers, is not considered pretty.

I'm curious, did they or someone do an intensive with the Paul Taylor Dance Company. I only ask because most of the movement being done is in the "Taylor" style... for example the very first thing they do is a "Cloven Waltz" which come from the dance "Cloven Kingdom" and they also do the Back Exercises in the "PT" Style ... No there is no name for the work, it was an improv. I wrote and performed for this dance. I do have plans to record this particular work along with other sometime in the near future.

Regarding the Dance, it was a Level 1 Modern Dance Class & the instructor left town, leaving the students assistants to figure out a combination on their own.
