  • @TheBigPrawn You're a total loser mate. Who actually spends time making a video like this, it's fucking pathetic. Stop bashing people trying to get a start in the industry. Would you really have passed up the opportunity to do this when you were starting out? I doubt it. Grow up.

  • 15th December on the Thursday :). 11:50am

  • Well I hope I pass my assessment with Jetstar next month and achieve my dream of becoming an airline pilot. Who cares If I don't get the best pay my dream is to be an airline pilot and It's the most amazing thing I've ever began. Flying feels so great and to be in control of a magnificent aircraft like that is incredible. I may not be perfect like every other human on the planet but I'm a safe pilot and enjoy what I do. So THINK before you start trying to drown our dreams!

  • @donna7179 My assessment is next month for them as well, what day are you?

  • Just saying, I know this is meant to be funny/joke (I think) But every pilot has to start somewhere. It's like saying I'm going to crash on my first Landing, It's like saying an 18 year old British Troop or from any force doesn't know what they're doing due to there age.. That's complete bollocks. If Airlines only hired people with say 10,000 hours + then who would be the pilots in 30 years time? No one because they gave no one eles a chance.

  • If the cadets pilots go through the airbus training, then they now what they have to do. It doesnt matter if you are 18 or 23, when they go through the training they get to learn the same. Im pretty sure im more mature than some airline captains, the ones that think they are everything and they think they know the pilots the airline have to hire. so give us a chance

  • im so sick of all these old farts who are saying experience is everything, you are wrong. how the fuck does flying solo charter flights in a c152 help you when you sit in the right hand seat. There is still a captain for fucks sake its not like they are just throwing them up there solo. Its just bullshit . move over old farts let some young blood in.

  • Foreign pilots affecting safety? that sounds xenophobic at best.

  • "the big prawn", as an experienced pilot you must have failed Human factors. your quite aggressive. not good for a pilot wouldn't you say? as a pilot you should be open to other peoples ideas, evaluate them and then come to a decision. you posted this video and will all most certainly shoot anyones opinions down that dosnt reflect your views and ideas. again, not an ideal trait to possess. Im not being smart, ignorant etc, im simply observing from your comment to MPBAV.im sure you dnt care thou

  • .cadet programmes are designed to give the airlines highly trained, motivated pilots, that have been trained from day one to be airline pilots. A GA pilot with 1500 hours of VFR flying would have lost currency on their IFR, multi engine, so how dose flying a C172 for 1500 hours make them a much better pilot...yes in GA they would be, but they would be lost for commercial ops. again, cadet programmes have been around for decades in europe, and now its the 1st time in oz. Jetstar see that it works

  • ... become a FO and many give up after spending a lot of money to become one. close and even more in the long term then it takes to do the programme. hwo can anyone justify that this operation is dangerous!! where is the proof. military pilots fly F/A 18 hornets with as little as 150 hours. It is all about the training. the training the cadets receive is superior in every way. it is like an internship, you are trained from day one not to be a GA pilot, but to be a commercial pilot.....

  • @peterspare Wouldn't go comparing yourself to an F/A-18 pilot mate. RAAF pilot's course has the highest standards in the country and one of the highest in the world. Passing said course is based on merit and an extremely high level of competence. Passing Jetstar's cadet scheme is based on being able to fork out the cash to pay for it. The level of student ability I see and hear on a regular basis from the old GAAPs is frightening, students who can't speak engrish or fly a basic circuit.

  • @peterspare Oh and btw, military pilots don't fly Hornets with as little as 150hrs, more like 400hrs minimum.

  • I have to comment here. Cadet training is not a new thing. It is in Australia but the rest of the world has been doing it for decades! BA, VA, easy jet, Air france, Aer Lingus and yes...even qantas!! Qantas cadets only have around 800 hours or less when they go on main line. It must be stated that a cadet will not be allowed to fly the a/c if they do not pass their PPL, CPL, IR , ATPL theory, and type ratings which includes emerg procedures. It is EXTEREMLY hard for a young aspiring pilot to...

  • Maybe if people weren't so hellbent on getting $5 plane tickets Jetstar wouldn't try to save money...

  • @blakemcclelland yea thats exactly right. the reason they are doing this is to save money and pay the new cadets less money so they can lower their ticket prices. why hire an experienced pilot when u can hire a slightly less experienced pilot with all the skills and required knowledge they need to legally fly the aircraft, and pay him half the price.

  • I'm an FO in the USA. I had 1,000 hrs GA experience before I started training with my airline in a CRJ. It took at least 300 hours of actual line flying after all that before I felt comfortable in most situations. And according to the captains I flew with, I was ahead of most other FOs in skill! I made more crucial mistakes and oversights than I care to admit. Thank God for more experienced captains who sometimes carried me and always mentored me.

  • U all make it sound like they are not trained , r u saying jetstar doesn't teach them how to handle emergencies , bull shit the captain is going to baby sit

  • MPBAV ... get your head out of your ass I checked your channel and you have a bare commercial license ... let me guess you're a cadet? Get out in the real world .. learn the trade and gain valuable experience. I've been flying for over 20 years I think I am in a better position to comment.

  • @TheBigPrawn From Ballina mate?

  • Safety is compromised .... if the Captain has an incapacitation and a brand new cadet has to bring it in under difficult conditions with zero experience then safety is an issue ...having flown numerous wide body jets I know this first hand. Just like in any industry experience counts. Would you want to be on death row in the USA and be appointed a lawyer who has only university experience ... NO! Qantas and Jet Star are creating a safety issue here. The FAA no longer allow cadets!

  • And the main problem here, is the fact that increasing number of airlines are starting to charge people for the type rating. IMO once you have your licence, an airline should invest in young cadets, bring fresh new blood into the airline and nuture them. Not exploit them for the finacial benefits it gives the company. This is poor company practice which is becoming more common. It almost bankrupts a lot of new F/O's but this is what we have to endure. Again, Safety is never compromised!

  • @mpbav

  • @mpbav prostitute

  • You don't have a clue what you're talking about when you say safety is being compromised. Putting the costs to train and then to work for an airline aside, the safety of the operation is never any less than what it is under an 'experienced' crew. Cadets are 'babysat', as you put it by the most experienced training captains and often have a safety crew member on board to monitor the cadets first x number of sectors. Safety is never in doubt you retard!
