First you should try to understand the scriptures and not miss the meaning because you are unfamiliar with how history and culture plays into some the commands. Plus it is not just Leviticus but multiple references and New Testament. And Christians don't hate gays. We love people enough to speak out to them to help free them from the deceptive lies they are being told. We just hate the sin.
The point he makes stands from what I can tell. If it is a Holy Book and written by god, then every line in there must be upheld. So gather the stones, because I don't know anyone who upholds them all, thankfully. Since I am an Atheist, I don't sin, so I guess I go first according to the book itself.
do you believe in ANYTHING?! there is a god and i dont know about your other videos but you should only have to believe in the new testement not the old because the old is nonsense and people are overrated jerks and twist it around.dont comment back if you are going to be an ass
@Ivanmohailovici Exactly! The bible is old news. It is a bunch of crap written before humans knew how to make steel. Why would I believe in, or listen to, such ancient and incorrect mythology? I don't believe any other stupid drivel that was written by bronze age street-poopers.
Laws of bible are lies to you, please remember that. What else does Leviticus say about homosexuals? one line says it all. During time bible written homosexuals were put to death, today they are not. Other laws have been denied, changed, twisted over time and humanity is not better for that. Think we know better today choosing to do things without God until we are humbled for mistakes we make and those who believe turn to Him and repent. Those who dont believe in Him this life is it.
Ah, that just means that is wrong for a man to have sex with you. If you didn't want to have sex - that would be rape. That is very wrong. However, that does not mean it should be wrong for two consenting men to have sex. I don't want to have sex with an elderly person - but that does not mean that it is immoral for someone else to do it (just kind of icky).
You are not thinking clear, but distorted thoughts. When two men have sex one or both men use the anus like a vagina....that is not just wrong it's sick. This is an abomination to God and does not take anything for me to understand that.
When Jesus came into this world and died on the cross, the old testament died with him. We, Christians, live by the New Testament. that's why we shave, cut our hair, sow more than one kind of seed in a field. We don't obey the laws of the old testament. we obey the new testament. i don't recall exactly where but jesus makes many quotes similar to these in his time--" you have heard that this means...." "but I tell you it means..."--The new testament is what I go by, so I don't obey the old test.
Then why even have the old Testament in the Christian Bible if you subject to limiting yourself to just one book? If so, then why should we even believe in the Ten Commandments? Why should we even believe what Genesis describes? All of those are first described in the Old Testament. I don't believe in the Bible, period.
The OT still lives and the NT is the completion, fulfillment of the OT. With both the OT and NT one can clearly see the most wicked to the most lovely in mankind and the Savior over it all.
no the 2 hypothesis method i am talking about refers to the accounts of the same event in different books of the bible. leviticus is the only book that does not follow this method. and wikipedia is a public based and might isay opinionated encyclopedia.
GAL 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
GAL 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
you do not seem to understand what a parable is. and mybe if you put Galations together you would understand the message, but wait, how could you . you don't believe. if you believed what i believed you would have a greater understanding of it.
You see I fully understand what a parable is. The thing is I contend that the entire bible is composed of parables, human-derived Jewish laws, and a bunch of census type information. None of it was "divinely" authored - it's all stories crafted by primative man.
The problem I have is people claiming supernatural authorship of this book. Especially when it's human authors and editors are generally well understood by historians and archeologists.
everything religously related was translated into hebrew, aramaic, greek and italian onto scrolls by the 12 chosen. and you did not include the 2 hypothesis method on that last comment.
What about the two-hypothesis method do you want? According to Wikipedia..."The oldest surviving document demonstrating knowledge and proficiency in the false position method is the Indian mathematical text Vaishali Ganit (c. 3rd century BC). The ancient Chinese mathematical text called The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art dated from 200 BC to AD 100 also mentions the algorithm."
Or are you refering to linguistics? "...if A alternates with B, consider deriving B from A, and A..."
I know that leviticus was not part of Gods lesson/commandments because it was found on the shore of the dead sea. it was not written on aa scroll and it does not use the 2 hypothesis method
You recognize god's stationary? He only writes on scrolls? How does this prove to you that it was not written by your god. Did he say he would only communicate by scrolls, but not ones left by the Dead Sea? Where did he leave his scrolls? I thought the Dead Sea Scrolls were kinda the basis for the bible. After all the book of Genesis was also found at the same site. As were Psalms, deuterotomy, Isaiah, Exodos, Numbers, Job, and the rest of the old testament. Was all that just a story?
guess what. the book of Leviticus is the set of rules that the Jews were set to live their lives by. and yes some christians are ignorant of the fact that God did not give those messages. the book of leviticus was the rules for survival in their community
So you know what books god supposedly wrote? Did god only write the words in red? Or only the convenient parts? You can bet your heiny that the contemperaneous Christians comanded their followers that that was the word of god.
Even today there are a loud bunch of Christians for whom the book of Leviticus is as binding as any other book. Just ask Pastor Fred Phelps and his bunch of obedient sheep.
You can't pick and choose. None of that wsa written by gods, ALL was written by man.
I slightly agree with some of the you said some christians do tend to nit pic stuff out of the bible. but to be fair these laws were in the old testament. when jesus died for us, the rules changed a little. but u r right. we are just sinners like u. we r just forgiven our sins through the sun. the greatest commandment now is to love God with allyour being, then love everyone else. Love is what changes people not hatred.
Excellent! You hit the nail right on the head. Keep up the good work and don't let the moronic cowards put you off - it's all they have to do in their little lives, apart from being afraid of an imaginary sky god.
I used to have friends from the Arab world before I came to a raised awareness of this stupid fuck, alias unacceptable insanity called religion. Not one single one of these friends I had who were muslims would condemn the 9/11 attack. This is my personal experience of muslims.
Of course Christians aren't much better. They just happen to live better lives because they allow thinking to coexist with their insanity.
Good video. Great to hear more of how shitty the bible crap is.
Leviticus has little to do with christianity. Those who quote it to you, quote back the parts about not eating ham and bacon and not working on saturday or wear mixed fabrics. Leviticus was given to Israel as law, not Christianity. Christians should be quoting what Paul said, not Leviticus.
For all we know, the rules for Israel may have been given in an effort to boost population. They were a small tribe surrounded by hostile ones. Regularly loosing soldiers in battle, even when they win. Having babies who can grow up to be soldiers is a smart societal move. This is a society that tells you what to eat (no bacon), wear, when to work (no saturdays). Telling who & when you can sleep with someone is not a surprise. If your brother got killed, you were obligated to marry his widow.
I agree wholeheartedly. Many biblical stories which survived the inevitable editorial considerations over the millennia have intentional sociological implications. Some of this could, perhaps, be attributed to pseudo-Darwinian evolution of societal memes over many generations. However, this certainly is not a result of divine authorship, and has no more or less moral credence today than the Code of Hammurabi.

This non-existent literary character did not write or cause to be written the Bible. Consequently this fictional character cannot be invoked to add credence to these myths. The bible is no more authoratative than Beowulf.
"The crux of the matter is that there is certainly no supernatural being that ACTUALLY exists "
That's a big assumption on your part.
But whoever wrote it, the words written in Leviticus are directed at Israel. The Christians you mention who are quoting them indirectly acknowledge that by their eating, working, and clothing habits that don't conform to the instructions in Leviticus to Israel. If they read the Bible closely, they would use Paul's words about homosexuality, not the OT's.
I am sorry, but your unfounded assumption positively assuming the existence of supernatural beings is the "big assumption". As for Neptune and Shiva. I do not believe an actual God named Neptune (or Poseidon) as described in Greek/Roman literature exists, and I acknowledge that having that affirmitive belief that he doesn't exist, the burden would be on me to give my reasons for such affirmitive belief.
