@chrissi12 Speaking as a SAW gunner in the US ARMY, that high a fire rate, while badass, is not desirable. A slower fire rate means you're firing longer. If you're firing longer, you're suppressing the enemy longer, and therefore making it possible for your buddies to advance on the enemy while their heads are down. That said, the MG3 is fucking awesome.

Great vid, just wish they were shooting at something to make it all worthwhile. I used to hump around an M60 for a while, loved it. She took a hell load of CLP, but as long as you dumped the CLP on all the major components in there she'd work like a sewing machine. In fact I never had a feed problem either, a well taken care of M60 will shoot all day for you.

"The M249 in 7.62..." I've never seen, handled or heard of a SAW in 7.62. The MK. 48 is not a M249, modified or otherwise just because both are manufactured by FN. Look if I'm arguing semantics in your mind then disregard but I can't stand "experts" that don't know anything about the weapons they talk about. A piece on an M249 gets misplaced or breaks the gun is done. The same is not true with the venerable M60. The reliability of the two isn't comparable, the M60 far surpasses the M249.

Yeah but i doubt an MG3 with the light Boltgroup can take 850 Rounds sustained fire at 1200-1500 rpm...

It is alot of stress to handle...i don´t think it will break, but it´s a harsh beating.

Maybe with the heavier bolt, which breaks it down to 700-800 rpm.

Either way, i will the trained at it soon, hopefully the MG4 too, its a beast of a weapon.

Depends on the job. the PKM is better but doesn't fire as quickly. That does give it the advantage of being able to control it better. I have a friend that served in Nam and he was an M60 gunner. by what he told me, the M60 does not sound like a fun weapon to be lugging around or shooting. Maybe if you have it mounted or are in a fixed position it might be fun, but if i were a grunt (foot soldier) i would carry the M249 or the PKM any day.

M249 users suffer from "belt-stoppage" constantly. And the PKM, maybe, but it's just about as heavy as an M60.

This E4 looks like a breakthrew. It had a foregrip just for the "lugging around" reason.

It's a test. Any older generation of the M60, the heat would have been so hot with this many rounds that the barrel would have melted. For machine guns like the M60, this is a very impressive torture test demonstration.
