@chronofusion all chips will have different oc tolerance, yours is only a 100mhz difference from mine. I use a G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8gb and a ASUS M4A88TD-M, both are fairly cheap. And an old PSU that is 1000w, it use to power my old 280GTX SLI setup..
@vd853 ah..thankya. Also when i overclocked and got it stable at 3750mhz. i noticed my ram ( POST screen that is ) goes from 128 bit to 64 bit. does that mean that my performance of either the cpu or ram or both has taken a big hit?
@chronofusion I have the same CPU & am also trying to up FPS in SC2
I have ASUS M5A97PRO board
My PC also gave up @ 3.8, 3.7 is stable. A voltage increase is required to make it stable, 1.55V is the safe maximum, u can achieve 4Ghz then. Risk involved tho
SC2 can only use 2 cores, so just overclock 2 cores and turn turbo core off, I got to 3.9 with no voltage increase, if ur board wont allow that use AMD overdrive
I saw an extra 3-7 FPS that way compared to all cores @ 3.7
good!!

@chronofusion
yep better for amd, assuming it meant unganged dual (64 bit) much better than conventional dual ddr(128 bit)

@chronofusion I have an old ish GeForce GTS 250 512MB which will be my biggest bottle neck, it runs hot anyway so I cant OC it
I also have 2x4GB kingston hyperx 1600mhz cl8
The CPU OC made no difference until lots of units were on screen at once, then the diff was only just noticeable
I need a GF 560 Ti or summat lol
