I am a university rower, and am currently going through the process of adapting for track cycling. It is no real surprise Rowers change over to Cycling. It has nothing to do with their fitness- as anybody can get fit. It is mainly down to the muscles used and the type of muscular expenditure used during both sports. For example- a vast chunk of my Rowing training was spent in the gym, as with track cyclists. Heavyweight Rowers tend to be powerful athletes, which comes in handy in track cycling.

What is that grinding noise you hear when the bike goes by?

On a bike with spoked wheels there's a faint sound as the chain engages and disengages the rear sprocket. On a bike with a disc wheel, that sound resonates through the whole wheel and is amplified.

whilst rowers are good its a fact that cross country skiiers are the greatest atheletes in the world, im not bias, never done it, its just a fact.

yea cross country skiers are incredibly fit but rowers are big, strong, incredibly fit and the sport is much more accessible for the average person meaning rowing gets the better athletes

Sir Hoy was second of GB in the coxless two. Romero went to the Olympics in the double four and won medal

It was my first season this year. I totally relate to what shes saying.

Another beginner says to me he was loosing vision in a race. My reply was that i'd been loosing vision since our first day, and I was just trying not to vomit at the end of the race.

I cant wait until next season, it only lasts 2 months here. We ride an outdoor velodrome.
