  • What's the difference between this and overdrive vintage t0800?

  • please give me a chord that riff ....

  • that was painful to watch.

  • PLease may you tell me which pedals i need to make a really nice sound in the style of alternative rock like Coldplay or Snow patrol?

    many thanks felix

  • Please dont swallow..I feel my stomach churning every time you do..

  • Review = Success

    Final Note = Fail

  • why are there so man haters?

  • i bought one but regrett it. Im gonna change it for little big muff

  • this is exacly what i need...

  • @1newbucketheadcover1 I KNOW I HATE IT

  • everyone hates every video of every pedal demo because they always play some fucking gay shit.....we need someone from a doom band to show us what pedals do. Then i might be more inclined to buy something if i can hear how it might be used (to my taste anyway).

  • does a great job of reviewing these pedals. tho he sometimes does not play the way they're meant to be used. he is horrible. plays that first lick ALL THE TIME. at least once in every demo vid. ill also hop on the band wagon and say i cringe when i watch him play

  • Haha, really EVERYBODY hates EVERY video of him xD (including me)

  • he sure makes a lot of disgusting swallowing noises.

  • This is why when I want to hear a pedal demo I watch a ProGuitarShop video

  • I use it for hard rock, works perfectly fine. Most the these videos need to demonstrate how versatile this pedal is because it can get an awesome hard rock sound.

  • to all the people that down this guy for doing the demos seriously he dose the best on youtube so stfu!!!!!

  • is people in these demos played songs or riffs that everyone knows how to play it would be much easier to determine if you like the sound

  • All you Jason Spencer haters are a bandwagon variety. he plays chords 2:30, and plays same licks to show you tone, not playing ability. yet hes not bad at what he does. ONLY problem he has is the way he turns off his volume knob, its stupid looking

  • Not even Jason can make this pedal sound bad... Wait never mind

  • I got that amp!

  • Oh what is your name on your underwear too fag?

  • hace ruido el amp

  • oh dear, this guy has his name on his guitar...

  • Seems like he's playing the same lick for the whole demo...

  • will I still get an overdriven sound without overdriving my amp?

  • Ok why do you have your name on your guitar? That pretty nerdy dude

  • He Sucks at Playing the blues, no feeling at all

  • I think it woudl help a lot if you played the same thing before and after turning on the Box. A-B comparisons. Thanks

  • Boss BD-2 Has 48% Off NOW with Free Shipping!!!!

    at w ww . cheapbuy-online . c o m / boss-bd2

be quickly and don't miss it !!!

  • Why do I keep watching this guy?

  • this pedal can give you 1 minute long creamy sustained notes when kicked in , in front of a overdriven tube amp. This keeps the amp and the guitar's sound while adding gain. I am getting one !!!!

  • Nervous much ???

  • if you search, carlos gardellini, you will see a guitar master, he use this litle stompbox, and he soung amazing. and he use chords to...

  • The Gain stage in my BD-2 is way hotter it seems than this.

  • This pedal is better from adding a good tone rather than using it as distortion. It works best by combining it with a distorion pedal or an amps actual overdrive. When i play eruption i run this pedal with my phase 90 but most og the distorion is with my marshall amp. for blues i would keep the gain love and crank up the level and tone for a softer blues witha nice warm tone.

  • @jpsetti

    I don't think that's a fender...

    Just a strat copy.

  • @ragrytakr i know that it isnt a fender... my brother uses my youtube account too, he wrote this shit! =)

  • Thanks jason for yet another shit demo

  • @wingmanforlife well don't watch it then, if it upsets you so much

  • @wingmanforlife spoken from some snot nosed highschool punk

  • @SHOOTTHAFAIR1

    A year later...seriously?

  • @wingmanforlife ha ha ha ha ha ha.....nuff sed

  • I use this bad boy to boost my distortion or just give me a creamy tone, so I can get that signature Mike Ness-type tone for those Social D like songs.

  • 1. Awesome Strat 2. Am I wrong, or do I hear a little Delay?

  • @cp1422 Definitely something. It's either a short delay or some kind of reverb. I hate these kind of demos because they never use low end amps & they have other effects implemented.

  • @Rattlehead15 Sorry, I commented too soon. As the video went on I definitely heard the delay.

  • @lastkiz13

guys this isn't really shredding.................. from how i interpret is the blues driver is a pedal for driving blues-like overdriven tones... i agree he could do a bit more chords but if you're looking for blues tone he's giving it to you as honest as he can.... lmfao... and again this isn't shredding. the licks he's playing is already a lot tastier than what most shredders play... rofl

  • you should play power chords and rythm cause that effect is not only for solo.

  • Thanks for the demo. nice stuff, was a lot of help.

  • "ALL" the knobs are on the pedal? Not quite..lol. Just kidding Jase. Good video, thnx.

  • i like this pedal, but I dont recall Hubert Sumlin or B.B. King having any bit of drive to there sound. why over distort it. only just a hair of gain should be used to get that tad bit of grit and thats all you need. anything above that is too distorted.

  • @dkstryker Completely agree, but keep in mind that some people DO want a bit more distortion, especially if they're going for blues rock instead of just straight blues. But I agree - if anyone just wants to play blues, this might not be worth the money.

  • @thebigsmuz now i would get this pedal for my Peavey solid state 212 amp and just run it through the clean channel to get that tube tone possibly. I'd do it with just a hair of gain and adjust the rest of the pedal to sound to my liking to sound like my Fender Deville 410 ;)

  • @dkstryker lol, good call.

  • Is that a Billy Corgan signature Strat?

  • Haha buddy..you got a tube amp there...just crank it up! Then you don't need no pedal and it'll sound WAY better than that piece of crap...lol

  • I agree with themorningafterAU, We didnt come to see how "good" you are, we want to see how this pedal is special and this is not helping at all

  • what happens if you hook this up not to an amp, but to a PC will the tone be similar? If i just were to plug it in right into the mic jack will it sound nice?

  • @BasanTX just a standard 9v battery adapter that connects into a wall plug is necessary, but they go for like 25 bucks, if you have more then 3 pedals you should just get a pedalboard

  • There's no point playing one lick or riff without the pedal on and than putting it on and playing something completely different. no good.

  • Heeeeey!!! My name is the same as his!!

  • @jasambition09ify its alright dude haing the same name doesnt make you like the other person so u probaly wont grow up to be a 37 year old virgin being some guitar heroe van halen wannabe

  • @kjrody21 HaHaHa!! Thanks! I was kind of worried there for a minute. I play the sax anyway... Lol...

  • @jasambition09ify same here sax and guitar cool

  • ok it is a BLUES driver so basically it is made for him, after this all bluesy stuff, but even this video is pretty boring

  • Whts the differences between blues overdriver and overdriver???

  • @terryfist it makes it sound "bluesy" but it doesnt matter what the name is, a lot of punk bands use them, Green Day especially and the a japanese band Called The Pillows

  • It's funny how every time he "kicks it on" it makes this horrible buzzing sound.

  • @SqueegeTech He uses singlecoil pickups. Wouldn't be the same with humbuckers, or a decent noise surpressing pedal

  • He is degluting in all of his videos. He is the swallowing man.

  • play some damned chords for fuck sakes...

  • hes a pedal test dummy hahahahahahah

  • world music supply needs a new guy to do the demos :)

  • dude, thats not a strat. its a crappy 5 dollar walmart guitar

  • @CollinsWorldPictures strat is just the name of the model, the guitar could be made in indonesia or china for all we know.

  • duuuuuude no one really fucking cares if you can play a few scales

we just wanna know how the pedal sounds so PLAY SOME FREAKIN CHORDS MOTHER FUCKER!

  • I hear reverb and delay in there as well...

  • @Raydungey me too

  • @Raydungey no delay, but a lot of reverb yes.

  • I wonder why he always needs to swallow

I can imagine but this thought keeps me from sleeping

  • Great sounds, great playing. Thanks for the demo.

  • Wow he has his name on his guitar what a cool guy

  • @andrewjwarren03 dont fuck with spencer, he'll destroy you!!!

  • ARGH! I'm SO sick of clicking on a pedal demo and seeing thisdude have a gat wank. Mix it up ffs.

  • ARGH I'm so sick of clicking on a pedal demo and seeing this dude have a gat wank! Mix it up ffs.

  • BD2 is good blues driver pedal!

I have Question? Most every demo Spencer is in he seems to be using delay, or is it just bad acoustics?

Not that crate amps sound bad? They are known for their clean tone, as they have tone of their own! Maybe next time Spencer you can demo effects pedals though mesa boogie or fender tube amp!

  • U need to quit leavin the bottom end of your eq turned down, i like to hear some bass in the mix

  • that strat sounded like sumblime with no overdrive

  • Blues pedal + Overdrive pedal = magnificiente

  • @HolyGK

Hey man, do you think that this Boss blues overdrive will be better with another Boss overdrive or with an Boss distortion?

  • @mapordos Well I have no iidea, I'll personnally choose a boss overdrive to get a crunchy but distortion sounds cool too and I never tried it..

  • @guitarplayer06098

And? Are you watching the video for the pedal or Jason Spencer?

  • buzzy noisy pedal

  • Thanks for taking the time to do make the demo. I have been considering buying one for a few weeks. Now i cant wait for pay day.

  • Hey, if you're looking to get a bluesy overdrive pedal, there are a lot of better pedals out there. As a fellow guitar player, I urge you to check out some other things.

  • @RojazzBG Like what?

  • @musicman69123 I really like the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet. There are a few versions of this pedal, the Fulldrive 2 Mosfet is the one I own and I love it. The Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer is another great pedal, real simple, real straight forward. In the same vein but with more punch is the Xotic AC and Fultone OCD. I'm not a big fan of the AC, but it's a solid pedal; the OCD, in my opinion, is one of the best pedals out there, be aware that it's an overdrive/distortion pedal, with FAT tone.

  • @RojazzBG Thanks! You've been a great help! I'm looking for an overdrive pedal, and I've been scanning through seas of pedals. Its been a pain in the ass, but your suggestions help. One more question. What do you think is the best all-tube amp I can buy for under $1000?

  • @musicman69123 Check out the Tiny Terror. The combo sounds awesome too

  • @musicman69123 Hey, sorry about how long it's taken me to respond, I posted something a couple of days ago and apparently it didn't post. For my money and tastes, the Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue is the best amp for under $1000. It's really loud, has tons of head room, gorgeous clean tone and screams with pedals. In my videos I have one labeled "SG" in it I'm playing through a Blues Deluxe and I go from clean, to OCD, to OCD and Xotic RC (clean boost) for the solo. Should give you an idea.

  • @RojazzBG K thanks. Just one more question: What is the best all-tube amp that is under $2000?

  • @musicman69123 Well, now things start to get hairy. Once the $1K mark is passed it really comes down to preference. I have a Super Reverb and I LOVE it. But I have friends playing through Marshals, Voxs, other Fenders, etc. that have amazing tone; and I wouldn't say my tone is better, I personally, like it more, but the reality is, is our tones are different, not better or worse. If you have $1K+ to spend, TAKE YOUR TIME and try a bunch of things out, whatever you get will be nice.

  • @musicman69123

    JCM200 DSL or JC100H.

  • @RojazzBG i think the blues driver has a little more fatness to its drive. I love my OCD its a super versatile pedal, but its not that great for harder sounds, or punky, for that i like to use my Hyde and Jekyll

  • Too bad he uses reverb, that makes it harder to really hear what the BD does. But pretty good review.

  • Excellent !!!

  • I didn't like this pedal at all...straight from the factory and out of the box. So I sent mine in to Robert Keeley and it came back amazing. My fav OD may be AnalogMan's King of Tone4....but that's an 18 month wait. Which is why in my humble opinion in trying to help someone out there....get Keeley's BD-2 mod. I don't think you'll be disappointed. In many ways it sounds as good as anything out there to my ears. I was totally disappointed in the Fulltone Catalyst and Zvex Box of Rocks.

  • your such a pussy, jason...

  • yes im sick of seeing shred vids. play chords so we dont have to go find a shop that has one...

  • @themorningafterAU what do you means shred? I am french and i want to know the meaning of that expression for that context. thks

  • @bruce68 Playing lead patterns really fast, and usually pretty repetitively to show off...a form of masturbation, basically. The opposite of what you need in most gear demos and very popular with teenaged boys...like masturbation.

  • @Notjustforfreaks ha ah ha and everybody knows that masturbation is not good for ears!

  • @bruce68 play very fast

  • The BD-2 is great pedal...with the Keeley mod in my opinion. I have a bunch of fairly expensive OD's like the Cusack and KLON and AnalogMan KoT4 and the TS808HW. They are all great...but if you are just starting out with OD's and want a great one at a great value...get Keeley's BD-2 mod. Someone asked about the comparison to a TS808 and I would say a TS808 has more of a mid-range bump and is 'fuzzier'. All of the units I have each have a unique spin on the OD sound. They are all great.

  • i have the 30 amp and that pedal great sound

  • I have a Randall RG100 (87 model) and I wanna know if this pedal put in the effects loop would be good for Metal. I have a Boss SD-1 and I wanna know if this pedal is better for an overdrive.

  • acutally i have the sd 1 and my other guitarist has a blues driver. i love my sd 1 and keeps up with the driver no problem and i can get the same levels as him no problem. if that helps you out

  • sounds like a versatile pedal, i use a washburn blues overdrive though...amazing pedal

  • he plays more blues rock, then solid blues and its all to fast, thats with every review, gotta play some chords or basic riffs if you wanna sell these to a more ameture market, something they can (me) can relate to

  • @adamKID07 PROGUITARSHIP DEMOS... its the best

  • @adamKID07

You see, this is a Blues overdrive pedal. It is made for solos. Not for the chordwork (:

  • do you think this is better than the Ibanez Tube screamer? or what would you say its the main difference between them, im looking for a nice warmy overdrive tone. thank you :)

  • @dinkymau way better man way better it's so versatile unlike the tube screamer

  • thank you, i hope i have the opportunity to try both one of this days, thanks :)

  • look guys... i dont have a problem with this guy or with the pedal... but between you and me THAT WAS NOT BLUES!!!!!!

  • I don't hear a lot of "blues" from this pedal.. sounds kinda fuzzy? also, that distorted part sounds like metalmania, not what you would call a bluesy sound with some character..

and leave the poor guy alone, his doing his job.. ha may need a galon of water but stop picking on him:) go to the store and try the pedal out for yourself..

  • kylelikesducks, THANKS..there are signs of I.Q. here, this IS about the pedal. The ignorant comments on how good or bad the player is so typical here, For the players critics, please show everyone YOUR credentials. I saw a clip of Buddy Guy saying he steals riffs from Jonny Lang! There's a smart man, the intelligent never stop learning. The egomaniacs have stopped already. Critique yourself, you'll end up a better musician.

  • I think this pedal doesn't sound so good, but the keeley modified versions is really cool, try that!

  • It's a pretty nice pedal. I got one for Christmas and so far i am loving it, there are so many different blues tones you can get from it.

  • Thanks for uploading this video onto youtube

  • why don't we lay off Jason and the rest of the guys that do demos ! They may not be as good as you, or as cool but , they are doing all of us a favor by doing the demos! Merry Christmas

  • no, he suck at blues, this guy is a realy good guitar player.

  • a tv-programm for housewifes, ohmy...

that dude is horrible. as the sound that he does. i hope he'll change his power supply or jack. i have BD-2 and there's no noise even with my ltd viper-400.

    sry for my english.

  • Dude, crank down the treble. That sounds horrible.

Also, ditch the hat. Nobody cares if you have a receding hairline.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah it does with some twang it it totally

  • This is definitely on my shopping list.

  • For the really high-gain pedals. For these low-gain pedals he's just annoying because he plays the same boring riff 100 times over :p He just can't do high gainers, example metal core, metal zone, mega dist.

  • terrible guitar+terrible amp setting+terrible player=terrible sound (with a great pedal)

  • cant really understand why your reviewing his playing and not the pedal.

  • Man, you should show your video's with out the filters you are using man... most boss pedals sound kind of shitty

  • what a geek

  • put that amp on the drive channel and then use the BD-2. This ounds way to tinny and frankly sounds like ass.

  • jason spencer, you are just awful.

  • Good demo; showed what the pedal can do with some good playing on a myriad of different settings.

  • Too much tone.

  • this guy is an absolute sucker! these demos are just PILES OF SHIT

  • Boss can suck it, every pedal they make someone else makes better. Although they do have the best all around pedals, none are total shit(except MT-2 and DS-1) Go ahead thumbs down me, but if you bastards doubt me, ur tones gonna pay

  • lmao this is so true!!

  • I think the reason people go for Boss pedals is because of the price. I agree, the quality isn't there, but they are affordable.

  • I disagree. I think their delays are pretty top notch (I don't use analog delay since I play metal, and I like clarity), Zakk Wylde used an SD-1 until he became an MXR endorsee (and many metal players still use them), although I do think most of their distortion pedals are pretty mediocre. On the other hand, good amps make distortion pedals useless anyway.

  • mt2 isnt shit if you know how to set it

  • which pedal do you think is better than this one, for blues obviously?

  • Anyone know if I can get a Green Dat tone outta this thing?

  • WRONG AMP! Shitty amp for a pedal like this. This pedal is actually really great, not "It'S rEaLlY mOrE fOr PuShInG tHe Amp!". It does EVERYTHING BY ITSELF! Very good amount of gain in real life. And i'm not kidding; i use metal zone and the metal core, and I want this :)

  • I don't hear much difference from a keeley to be honest

  • damn dude, play some chords

  • can I get John mayer tone with this pedal ? i've got a strat and a vox ad30vt

  • john mayer uses one of these, but I'm pretty sure it's modified by robert keeley. but stock it will still get a pretty good mayer sound. if you've got some extra cash, then get the keeley mod

also, it sounds best with a tube amp, so when you can afford one, I suggest you pick up a fender blues junior, easy way to get mayer/Srv/hendrix tone

  • Haha. Thats the exact gear I have and I am a HUGE Mayer fan. As well as SRV and Hendrix.

  • I'd like to see some of you jerks do better.

  • wouldnt you us a semi hollow for a more bluesy sound?

  • Well people that don't have semi or full hollow bodies, it's meant for them.

  • terrible, TERRIBLE, demo

or he's a very weak guitarist...

  • he is, he knows just a single lick

  • questi video fanno schifo...il mio suona molto meglio...
