  • this is scare tactics 101. its the only defence they have for net nuetrality. WHAT IF WHAT IF the cooperation decided to start limiting people based on what content they are looking at! well they don't. but lets just say they did. why don't we all put on our thinking caps and look at what will happen. consumers will find out, and switch services. oh and if your argument is i have no alternative the only people you can blame is your local government for signing deals for money.

  • Concast: hands off our pipes.

  • I watched this video yesterday. I don't see this happening.

    Liar

  • Of all the years the media moguls were secretively trying to figure how to pilage the web with the least public protest........then comes along Facebook with its flock of mindless devotees ready to willingly betray the free web without so much a wimper.

  • What did they use to make this video?

  • I used After Effects for the animation and Photoshop and Illustrator to create all the assets. For the final scene with the tubes. I used Cinema 4D.

  • Don't worry.... Don't Worry.... Don't worry...

What is going on with this video? I'm very suspicious about this.

    Don't worry..... Then it stops...

  • Wtf its a browser or something ?

  • Go to the web site and read about how your congressmen are trying to control and limit your access to the internet. And then get involved fighting it.

Keep the internet free of Government/Corporate Control !!!

"Net Neutrality" is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet.

    Net Neutrality means no discrimination.

Net Neutrality prevents Internet providers from blocking, speeding up or slowing down Web content based on its source, ownership or destination.

  • e-socialism coming to a router near you.

  • If we lose Net Neutrality, this could not only hurt the users of the Internet, but it could too hurt gaming.

  • Just imagine it, all walking out of our houses simultaneously raising our hands as the sunlight hits us all in the eyes.

  • "Behold The Internet of Tomorrow. Dozens of services and sites await you."

    lol

  • it happened to TV now i dont want that to happen to internet

  • SexyTime... if we lose Net Neutrality. There will be no more free internet. You will have to PAY for specific sites.

  • I think it's the specific sites that will have to pay, which opens the possibility of extortion and the inability of start-ups to compete.

  • When I first saw this I thought it was anti-net neutrality. Net neutrality will be the last nail in the coffin of freedom, just look what the government did to tv and the radio! Brothers and sisters of the internet look deeper into this issue, the internet is the last free resource with which to exchange news, ideas, and anti-government sentiment. Corporations get fat off of government contracts.

Please guys don't let the name of the idea trick you like the Patriot Act did back in 2001.

  • I agree. Net Neutrality seems like a good idea on the surface, but the more I read about it the less I like it.

  • turning into a dictatorship it is already a dictatorship lolllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • this is just stupid... what happened to our freedom of speech?

    its not gonna matter anymore?

the united states is turning into a dictatorship

  • I find it funny how the ISP's are proposing to gain more control over what the user can access. The thing is with the internet, the internet is part of our daily lives and it is quickly becoming more popular than TV and probably already has. I mean I hardly turn on my TV set, I spend most time on the internet, I find it completely outrageous and they want to take the content we want to see away from us, rediculous.

  • C3R - what do you think about the Spec 5 Alternator and its effect on the ISP Speedways?

  • Once we let corporations into the internet in the form of advertising, we allowed them to change the internet from the wonderful exchange of information place into the practical exchange of commerce space. We cannot go back, the corporations will never allow it. Our gov't looks toward balancing corporate gain with public interest; but in reality always seems to bow to the former, for eventually (they hope) the public will benefit. In the internet arena the battle was lost long ago.

  • Coming soon: BRANDED INTERNET. For example, though "AT&T" or "Comcast" may have a network in your neighborhood, soon you will enjoy choice of branded internet from a different company through their network...just like IPTV. The biggest obstacle is getting our local networks built BIG enough to deal with the bandwidth. It needs to happen FAST. Big questions...How to get it done?...Who PAYS to build it? If Gov't gets involved = FEES FOR ALL (on internet bill)...constant bickering...slow build.

  • hmm...this only gonna happen in the US?

    Cause then...err...who cares? ^^

    [Just joking :P]

  • Poor little lemon. :(

  • Hey, here a thought...

when some of us more influential types sober up, they can suggest that those who have the technology should also have access. i.e. phone line; cell phone; wi-fi.

I think paying for the internet toy, entitles us to the internet joys.

Of course, I think policing spam, predators, and identity theft is what ISP's should be paid for.

    Go figure.

How much protection can Fox's give chickens?

  • Killing us softly with its love ... Hell Government...

    Fascism.

  • Great

  • - Really want to See what will be Internet of Tomorrow ?

(click on my name and choose "WORK IN PROGRESS")

    ..

    Brrr !

  • What's sad is that I have yet to hear anything *about* net neutrality from any mainstream media sources. All the articles I've found about Michigan's anti-net neutrality bill haven't mentioned it at all. They briefly say something vague about "competition," quote the Governor, and maybe half of them actually mention critics of the bill to begin with.

  • Thats because Big Media doesn't want the public to be aware of the issue, so they can lobby congress, and gain control of the internet, and mainstream media, would be the only media.

  • this is the exact reason we shud protect Net Neutrality and keep those Telecom companies from taking over the Internet

  • Loved it! :)

  • Net Neutrality keeps the internet the way it is now. So unless you want the internet to be censored and owned by big corporations like Comcast, then you should support it.

  • I support Net Neutrality, but what can we DO? in this world, money talks. I don't have money like Comcast so what can I do? how are the "little guys" gonna stop this from happening?

  • The same way feminists took control of america.

Protest, spread the word, email these vid links to as many people as possible, fill out the online petitions at savetheinternet dot com.

  • This makes me sad

  • First they take away the free internet, next they'll impose martial law. Look up "FEMA concentration camps" on YouTube. The government is smart. Divide a conquer.

  • What's the rush? In the home of the free!

Being as fast as our slowest I think makes for a better more humane and sane policy. To let users "fall by the roadside" or picked off by the enemy of competitive greed is a symptom of desperation and savagery.

Relax, we've got forever. It may even spur people to advance science for the good of humanity by improving design technology to appease the fast lane pioneers out there.i.e bigger ram capacity for 64bit or more systems.

  • Dude, this is about pipes, not server capacity. You can have the biggest, baddest decked out server in the world, but it will be completely worthless if this bill passes. The telcos and cable companies want to basically censor what their subscribers are able to see on the internet. They'll have all the control and all the technology in the world won't save us then. We must act now to stop them!

  • eonsol hit the nail right on the head, it's not about technology, it's about the big guys crapping on us little guys. I use the internet to keep in touch with my family far away. What will happen if they take over? I won't be able to talk to my friends, and family, that's what. we CAN'T let this happen.. it's EVIL, and it will NOT be tolerated.

  • if the bill passes

    REVOLT GOD DAMN IT

    id riot

  • Amen, the NRA is on our side! Let's practice our right to bare arms! LOL! I am wearing a short sleeve shirt.

  • confused - not "call", but "look" on my profile *spending too much time on the PC*

  • Join the fight for a free internet and net neutrality! Please call on my profile (...just click on my name...) and visit my myspace site, there you will find lots of videos and background info. Member of savetheinternet

  • Epic sarcasm.

    see this video!

  • can somebody explain me whats going on ?

  • Great video!

  • the onion is way funnier

  • this video is so right, I even heard the government is discontinuing the internet next year

  • it's a series of tubes!

  • Dang bro, I thought it was a big truck. Golly gee willikers, I was wrong.

  • Spread the word and let your government officials know your feelings regarding this!

  • amen brother suppot Net Neutrality

  • This doesn't paint an accurate picture of the debate at all. To say that blogs and websites will be a thing of the past is far fetched to say the least. Wall Street is well aware of the implications if we don't allow telecos to invest in the internet infrastructure we need to keep pace with new technologies. Any new net neutrality regulations will certainly hamper our progress, which is what we at the Hands Off The Internet Coalition hope to keep from happening.

  • HandsOfftheInternet is an astroturf front group wholly funded by AT&T, BellSouth and other large phone and cable companies. This comment is pure corporate propaganda, made by a paid shill and designed to mislead you into thinking that HandsOff43 is anything but a stooge.

  • 100% support sagecast's statement.

If net neutrality fails, ISPs will be able to extort money from YouTube and other content providers by threatening to block or degrade access to their sites. Since many sites will refuse to pay or be unable to, we will end up with fewer choices and surfing the Internet will become more like [TV] channel surfing. *gag*

  • This is no more of an exsageration then the anti net nutrality commertials i see on tv.

  • What a retarded thing to say. Ignore HandsOff43. As sagecast said, this fellow is a shill paid by the big telco and cable companies who has probably been sent to YouTube to help confuse people and get them thinking in favor of big business instead of their own rights.

  • Nice but it's the wrong argument!

Google is building its own internet along with specialized computer, therefore completly by passing the public internet.

The question we should be asking is: is this fair?

    --Fredley Pontoof

  • Don't be daft, man. Let Google build their own `net, that isn't going to hurt anyone. What *will* hurt is if telcos and cable companies suddenly cut viewers off from the content providers and insert themselves as "gatekeepers" who decide what people can see on the internet.

  • I give up, I'm having a terribly hard time posting responses...

  • There's no doubt it's a gross simplification. It's a satirical spot, not an expository one. I want to create a series of question/answer spots that go into much more detail.

In the meantime, if you want a sustained, well-argued approach to this topic, do a Google search for "net neutrality fact fiction" and read the PDF that comes up. (For some reason, I can't post a link here in the comments.)

  • I think this is a gross simplification of the net neutrality debate...

  • What is scary is the American Library Association is using Savetheinterenet as a top source of information and the recent blog on it points to this video. This is how I stay informed too. Any questions?

I got hundreds of them if you want. But where do we go?

  • Forgot to mention, I like the video very much.

Also, I found it easy to register at Savetheinternet, I hope to join in the discusion there. Many blog pages on it with different subjects which I can respond to.

  • It's satire flugm. But like all good satire it surrounds a kernel of truth -- the nation's largest phone and cable companies seek to control our Internet for their profit and our loss. They're proposing to do this by destroying the principle that has kep the Web an even playing field for all comers.

  • I don't want to be shot down the tubes... OUCH

  • yea !
