This was speedway back in the day. I liked the fact how GK showed no flair in his ride, but did what needed to do just to get the job done. Awful start by blue. I was a Hackney regular back in the early-late 80s.
I was a Hackney Supporter too mate (inc. the 80's) and maybe I'm biased, but NO TRACK today comes anywhere near to Waterden Road for exciting racing and overtaking.
These days, I spend my speedway time down at Lakeside where I'm also the machine examiner. The Hammers guys get driven mad by my constant memoirs of how brilliant the Hackney Track was - but apart from Hyde Road, no track has ever provided me with the buzz that we got down at Hackney Stadium.
@EssexBoy696969 Yep Waterden Road, 8pm Friday night. The smell of hot dogs and the sun starting to set just behind the hospital in the west. The tower blocks that lined the skyline to the north (gone now). Walking around in the pits with tin cans stuck to my feet immitating the riders. Hanging out on the 'forbidden 3rd bend' grass hill, the smell of that disgusting toilet hidden away behind bend 2, the chippy on the back straight, the announcers room overlooking the start line... MEMORIES

You've got parts 1 & 2 the wrong way around for this meeting mate.
