I suppose you have to appreciate his skill. People actually paid to listen to this guy? A different era. Glad it's a byegone era. Too druggy for me. I stumbled onto this,
I know this is a great song, sweet riff and some excellent soloing, but it's definitely the spoken word intro, with it's infectious cracking up that makes it. "He Poots forth a quarter-ounce green rosette" indeed. That green rosette is definitely NOT made of icing sugar, why else would its mass be so carefully measured, that's one dank-ass muffin right there, both giving and satisfying the munchies.
its def frank, but ive always thought that this guitar solo sounds like mob rules era toni immoi/black sabbath....chECK IT OUT, you'll hear the similarity
I never get sick of that repeating riff. A band that plays at my favorite bar plays this song every Thursday and I am one of the few people who actually know who it is. What a sad generation...
I don't think you can be so generalized to say that a generation is sad. Just because someone doesn't know a band you like doesn't mean they're sad. It means they have different tastes. My favourite bands are The Mars Volta and Gorillaz. I wouldn't down talk anyone for not knowing either of them, even they're amazing.
zappa does both. he was as good as any guitar god, but he was no show off, he knew what he was doing, and made due with his talent in his own way, which worked like magic
Such a dope-ass f*ckin' song right there!!!!! Everyone who's playin' on this song is like a virtuoso in their respective musical field. Frank Zappa, Terry Bozio, George Duke, etc.... Song is sick as hell!!!!!
people who don't like zappa are brain dead and ignorant??? i fucking love zappa more than most, but you sir are the brain dead, ignorant one. and to answer your question, yes this is from bongo fury

I love it best when Frank falls back on his R&B roots and lets his jazz & blues inner soul rise to the top. Because that's when his ingenious musical spirit begins to righteously ooze forth and then all our cups runneth over ! Awesome lead guitar !
THE most underrated guitar player of all time. I saw Frank many times & he always delivered music on his own watch, in his own twisted, unique way & never followed ... always led. His humor & creativity has been missed since his death ... thank God Dweezil has kept his legacy alive! I will be attending GATHERING OF THE VIBES in Bridgeport mainly to see ZPZ ... for the 4th time. Dweezil has really become Frank ... adopting his willingness to include little-known songs in the set lists. Bravo!!
THE most underrated guitar player of all time, agreed ,it gets on my goat when i watch the endless"greatest guitar players ever" shite on youtube and he rarely gets a mention,

You oughta try some of his other music before passing final judgement.
Try the albums Waka/Jawaka and/or Grand Wazoo.
You'll be glad you did.
(there's a nice youtube entry somewhere 'round here for "Blessed Relief" off of the latter)
BTW Frank was anti-drug, bigtime.
