"Mack the Knife," especially the way Darin did it, is a song where showmanship goes a long way, and Lewis deserves all the credit in the world for doing it well.

I know most people will disagree but Blake's version worked so much better for me than Clay's. There's no arguing that Clay has the stronger voice, but I think he oversang it unlike Blake who kept it more subtle yet with more attitude. The song is about killing someone for christ sake. Blake's is closer to Bobby Darin's version.

Ignoring the fact that it's not an Ella Fitzgerald song, I'd say it looks more like he's going for the Bobby Darin version than anything else, where the primary thing that's important is the way you carry yourself. "Mack the Knife," especially the way Darin did it, is a song where showmanship goes a long way, and Lewis deserves all the credit in the world for doing it well.

a lot of people had versions of mack the knife. Ella Fitzgerald earned a GRAMMY AWARD for her version. Louis Armstrong introduced Mack the Knife in 1954 and Bobby Darin had his version in 1958. So yes your right he is goig for the Bobby Darin version because Blake Lewis can't touch Ella Fitzgerald and neither can Bobby Darin. Can you say Grammy Award?

Bobby Darin only recorded mack the knife and it was a success but the song it self was already a success he just had his version just like all the others before him way before him in the us was Louis Armstrong.

I don't get it!!! Short,skinny, kinda geeky. How do you girls see such a hot guy here? My friend in HS looked a lot like Blake and no girl would ever talk to him. I'm sure Blake is a nice guy, but I judt don't see what the big deal is. PLus, Jordin is a much better singer!!!

I know most people will disagree but Blake's version worked so much better for me than Clay's. There's no arguing that Clay has the stronger voice, but I think he oversang it unlike Blake who kept it more subtle yet with more attitude. The song is about killing someone for christ sake. Blake's is closer to Bobby Darin's version.
