No one knew where the 1 was in the old days, so what you got was this wonderful syncopation that is so difficult to duplicate. If you can get a few musicians to keep their meter, and just let the song flow on the 1 you will see a wonderful syncopation evolve. For this type of music, a focused and rhythmically sound drummer is mandatory. He is the backbone that ties those rebel ribs to the core skeleton. XOXO
